The Hadith of al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 1772
Narrated by Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him): Once I said in the court of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): "O Messenger of Allah! When the people of Quraysh meet each other, they meet with cheerful faces, but when they meet us, they are like strangers?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) became very angry and said: "By the One in whose hands is my soul! Faith will not enter a person's heart until he loves you for the sake of Allah and His Messenger.".

سیدنا عباس رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ میں نے بارگاہ رسالت میں عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! قریش کے لوگ جب ایک دوسرے سے ملتے ہیں تو بڑے ہشاش بشاش چہرے کے ساتھ ملتے ہیں، اور جب ہم سے ملتے ہیں تو اجنبیوں کی طرح؟ اس پر نبی ﷺ سخت ناراض ہوئے اور فرمایا: ”اس ذات کی قسم! جس کے دست قدرت میں میری جان ہے، کسی شخص کے دل میں اس وقت تک ایمان داخل نہیں ہو سکتا جب تک کہ وہ تم سے اللہ اور اس کے رسول کی خاطر محبت نہ کرنے لگے۔“
Sayyidna Abbas (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se marvi hai ki ek martaba mein ne bargah risalat mein arz kiya: Ya Rasul Allah! Quresh ke log jab ek dusre se milte hain to bade hushash bashash chehre ke sath milte hain, aur jab hum se milte hain to ajnabiyon ki tarah? Is par Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) sakht naraz huye aur farmaya: ”Is zaat ki qasam! Jis ke dast qudrat mein meri jaan hai, kisi shakhs ke dil mein us waqt tak iman dakhil nahin ho sakta jab tak ki woh tum se Allah aur us ke Rasul ki khatir mohabbat na karne lage.“.
حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ هَوَ ابْنُ هَارُونَ ، أَنْبَأَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي خَالِدٍ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي زِيَادٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنِ الْعَبَّاسِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ قُرَيْشًا إِذَا لَقِيَ بَعْضُهَا بَعْضًا، لَقُوهُمْ بِبِشْرٍ حَسَنٍ، وَإِذَا لَقُونَا لَقُونَا بِوُجُوهٍ لَا نَعْرِفُهَا، قَالَ: فَغَضِبَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ غَضَبًا شَدِيدًا، وَقَالَ:" وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ، لَا يَدْخُلُ قَلْبَ رَجُلٍ الْإِيمَانُ حَتَّى يُحِبَّكُمْ لِلَّهِ وَلِرَسُولِهِ".
