The Hadith of al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 1774
Once, Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) submitted in the court of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): "O Messenger of Allah! Your uncle Abu Talib used to defend you a lot, what benefit did he get because of you?" The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "He is in the upper part of Hellfire. If it were not for me, he would have been in the lowest part of Hellfire."

ایک مرتبہ سیدنا عباس رضی اللہ عنہ نے بارگاہ رسالت میں عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! آپ کے چچا ابوطالب آپ کا بہت دفاع کیا کرتے تھے، آپ کی وجہ سے انہیں کیا فائدہ ہوا؟ فرمایا: ”وہ جہنم کے اوپر والے حصے میں ہیں، اگر میں نہ ہوتا تو وہ جہنم کے سب سے نچلے طبقے میں ہوتے۔“
aik martaba syedna abbas razi allaho anho ne bargah risalat mein arz kya ya rasool allah aap ke chacha abu talib aap ka bahut dafaa karte thay aap ki waja se unhen kya faida hua farmaya woh jahannam ke upar wale hisse mein hain agar mein na hota to woh jahannam ke sab se nichle tabqe mein hote
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ عُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: مَا أَغْنَيْت عَنْ عَمِّكَ، فَقَدْ كَانَ يَحُوطُكَ وَيَغْضَبُ لَكَ، قَالَ:" هُوَ فِي ضَحْضَاحٍ مِنَ النَّارَ، وَلَوْلَا أَنَا لَكَانَ فِي الدَّرْكِ الْأَسْفَلِ مِنَ النَّارِ".
