The Hadith of al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 1790
It is narrated by Ubaidullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that Sayyidina Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) had a drain that used to pass by the way of Sayyidina Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). One day, on a Friday, Sayyidina Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) wore new clothes. On the same day, two chickens were slaughtered at the house of Sayyidina Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him). When Sayyidina Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) reached near that drain, water mixed with the blood of the chickens was flowing in it. That water fell on Sayyidina Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), and it contained the blood of the chickens. Sayyidina Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) ordered that the drain be removed from there. He went back home, took off those clothes, wore other clothes, and came and led the people in prayer. After the prayer, Sayyidina Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) came to him and said, "By Allah! The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had placed this drain in this place." Upon hearing this, Sayyidina Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "I swear to you that you stand on my back and place it back where the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had placed it." So, Sayyidina Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) placed the drain back in the same way.

عبیداللہ بن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ سیدنا عباس رضی اللہ عنہ کا ایک پرنالہ تھا جو سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ کے راستے میں آتا تھا، ایک مرتبہ سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے جمعہ کے دن نئے کپڑے پہنے، اسی دن سیدنا عباس رضی اللہ عنہ کے یہاں دو چوزے ذبح ہوئے تھے، جب سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ اس پرنالے کے قریب پہنچے تو اس میں چوزوں کا خون ملا پانی بہنے لگا، وہ پانی سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ پر گرا اور اس میں چوزوں کا خون بھی تھا، سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے اس پرنالے کو وہاں سے ہٹا دینے کا حکم دیا، اور گھر واپس جا کر وہ کپڑے اتار کر دوسرے کپڑے پہنے اور آ کر لوگوں کو نماز پڑھائی۔ نماز کے بعد ان کے پاس سیدنا عباس رضی اللہ عنہ آئے اور کہنے لگے کہ واللہ! اس جگہ اس پرنالے کو نبی ﷺ نے لگایا تھا، سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے یہ سن کر فرمایا: میں آپ کو قسم دیتا ہوں کہ آپ میری کمر پر کھڑے ہو کر اسے وہیں لگا دیجئے جہاں نبی ﷺ نے اسے لگایا تھا، چنانچہ سیدنا عباس رضی اللہ عنہ نے وہ پرنالہ اسی طرح دوبارہ لگا دیا۔
Ubaidullah bin Abbas razi Allah anhuma se marvi hai ki Sayyiduna Abbas razi Allah anhu ka ek parnala tha jo Sayyiduna Umar razi Allah anhu ke raaste mein aata tha, ek martaba Sayyiduna Umar razi Allah anhu ne Jumma ke din naye kapde pehne, usi din Sayyiduna Abbas razi Allah anhu ke yahan do choze zibah hue the, jab Sayyiduna Umar razi Allah anhu us parnale ke qareeb pahunche to us mein chozon ka khoon mila pani behne laga, woh pani Sayyiduna Umar razi Allah anhu par gira aur us mein chozon ka khoon bhi tha, Sayyiduna Umar razi Allah anhu ne us parnale ko wahan se hata dene ka hukum diya, aur ghar wapas ja kar woh kapde utar kar dusre kapde pehne aur aa kar logon ko namaz parhayi. Namaz ke baad unke paas Sayyiduna Abbas razi Allah anhu aaye aur kehne lage ki wallah! Is jagah is parnale ko Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne lagaya tha, Sayyiduna Umar razi Allah anhu ne yeh sun kar farmaya: mein aapko qasam deta hun ki aap meri kamar par khade ho kar use wahin laga dijiye jahan Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne use lagaya tha, chunanche Sayyiduna Abbas razi Allah anhu ne woh parnala usi tarah dobara laga diya.
(حديث موقوف) حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا أَسْبَاطُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ , أَخِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ:" كَانَ لِلْعَبَّاسِ مِيزَابٌ عَلَى طَرِيقِ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ، فَلَبِسَ عُمَرُ ثِيَابَهُ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ، وَقَدْ كَانَ ذُبِحَ لِلْعَبَّاسِ فَرْخَانِ، فَلَمَّا وَافَى الْمِيزَابَ صُبَّ مَاءٌ بِدَمِ الْفَرْخَيْنِ، فَأَصَابَ عُمَرَ، وَفِيهِ دَمُ الْفَرْخَيْنِ، فَأَمَرَ عُمَرُ بِقَلْعِهِ ثُمَّ رَجَعَ عُمَرُ فَطَرَحَ ثِيَابَهُ، وَلَبِسَ ثِيَابًا غَيْرَ ثِيَابِهِ، ثُمَّ جَاءَ فَصَلَّى بِالنَّاسِ , فَأَتَاهُ الْعَبَّاسُ , فَقَالَ: وَاللَّهِ إِنَّهُ لَلْمَوْضِعُ الَّذِي وَضَعَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ عُمَرُ , لِلْعَبَّاسِ: وَأَنَا أَعْزِمُ عَلَيْكَ لَمَّا صَعِدْتَ عَلَى ظَهْرِي، حَتَّى تَضَعَهُ فِي الْمَوْضِعِ الَّذِي وَضَعَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَفَعَلَ ذَلِكَ الْعَبَّاسُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهُ".
