Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 18400
It is narrated by Noman (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to straighten the rows (in prayer) as we straighten arrows in our rows. Once, when the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) intended to say Takbeer (Allah-u-Akbar), he saw that the chest of a man was protruding out. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Straighten your rows, otherwise Allah will create discord between you."

حضرت نعمان رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ نبی کریم ﷺ صفوں کو اس طرح درست کرواتے تھے جیسے ہماری صفوں سے تیروں کو سیدھا کر رہے ہوں ایک مرتبہ نبی کریم ﷺ نے جب تکبیر کہنے کا ارادہ کیا تو دیکھا کہ ایک آدمی کا سینہ باہر نکلا ہوا تھا نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا اپنی صفوں کو درست (سیدھا) رکھا کرو ورنہ اللہ تمہارے درمیان اختلاف ڈال دے گا۔
Hazrat Noman Radi Allaho Anho se marvi hai keh Nabi Kareem Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam saffon ko iss tarah durust karwate thy jaise humari saffon se teeron ko seedha kar rahe hon aik martaba Nabi Kareem Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam ne jab takbeer kehne ka irada kiya to dekha keh aik aadmi ka seena bahar nikla hua tha Nabi Kareem Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam ne farmaya apni saffon ko durust (seedha) rakha karo warna Allah tumhare darmiyan ikhtilaf daal dega.
حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ، عَنْ زَائِدَةَ ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ ، عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ ، قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُسَوِّينَا فِي الصُّفُوفِ، حَتَّى كَأَنَّمَا يُحَاذِي بِنَا الْقِدَاحَ، فَلَمَّا أَرَادَ أَنْ يُكَبِّرَ، رَأَى رَجُلًا شَاخِصًا صَدْرُهُ، فَقَالَ: " لَتُسَوُّنَّ صُفُوفَكُمْ، أَوْ لَيُخَالِفَنَّ اللَّهُ بَيْنَ وُجُوهِكُمْ" .
