Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 18401
Narrated by Numan (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, the example of one who strives in the cause of Allah - until he returns, whenever he returns - is like that of one who fasts during the day and prays throughout the night.

حضرت نعمان رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ نبی کریم ﷺ نے ارشاد فرمایا راہ اللہ میں جہاد کرنے والے کی مثال " جب تک وہ واپس نہ آجائے خواہ جب بھی واپس آئے " اس شخص کی طرح ہے جو صائم النہار اور قائم اللیل ہو۔
Hazrat Noman (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se marvi hai keh Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne irshad farmaya raah Allah mein jihad karne wale ki misaal " jab tak woh wapas na aajae chahe jab bhi wapas aaye " iss shakhs ki tarah hai jo saim un nahar aur qaim ul lail ho.
حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ، عَنْ زَائِدَةَ ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ ، عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " مَثَلُ الْمُجَاهِدِ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ، كَمَثَلِ الصَّائِمِ نَهَارَهُ، وَالْقَائِمِ لَيْلَهُ حَتَّى يَرْجِعَ مَتَى يَرْجِعُ" .
