Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 18556
Narrated by Bara (may Allah be pleased with him), the beginning of the Holy Quran was revealed with this verse: “Not equal are those believers who sit (at home) and receive no hurt, and those who strive and fight in the cause of Allah with their goods and their persons." The Prophet (peace be upon him) called Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) and ordered him to "bring a shoulder bone and write this verse on it." Ibn Umm Maktum (may Allah be pleased with him) complained about his blindness, so the words “except those who are disabled (by injury or are blind or lame etc.)” were revealed in this verse. And the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Bring me a shoulder bone or a board and ink.

حضرت براء رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ ابتداء قرآن کریم کی یہ آیت ہوئی کہ " مسلمانوں میں سے جو لوگ جہاد کے انتظار میں بیٹھے ہیں وہ اور اللہ کے راستہ میں جہاد کرنے والے بھی برابر نہیں ہوسکتے " نبی کریم ﷺ نے حضرت زید رضی اللہ عنہ کو بلا کر حکم دیا " وہ شانے کی ایک ہڈی لے آئے اور اس پر یہ آیت لکھ دی، اس پر حضرت ابن ام مکتوم رضی اللہ عنہ نے اپنے نابینا ہونے کی شکایت کی تو اس آیت میں " غیراولی الضرر " کا لفظ مزید نازل ہوا اور نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا میرے پاس شانے کی ہڈی یا تختی اور دوات لے کر آؤ۔
Hazrat Bara raziallahu anhu se marvi hai ke ibtida Quran Kareem ki yeh ayat hui ke "Musalmanon mein se jo log jihad ke intezar mein baithe hain wo aur Allah ke raaste mein jihad karne wale bhi barabar nahi ho sakte" Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne Hazrat Zaid raziallahu anhu ko bula kar hukam diya "wo shane ki ek haddi le aaye aur is par yeh ayat likh di, is par Hazrat Ibn Umm Maktum raziallahu anhu ne apne nabina hone ki shikayat ki to is ayat mein "ghayr uli al-darrar" ka lafz mazeed nazil hua aur Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya mere pass shane ki haddi ya takhti aur dawaat le kar aao.
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ ، قَالَ: لا يَسْتَوِي الْقَاعِدُونَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ غَيْرُ أُولِي الضَّرَرِ سورة النساء آية 95، قَالَ: لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ، جَاءَ عَمْرُو بْنُ أُمِّ مَكْتُومٍ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَكَانَ ضَرِيرَ الْبَصَرِ، قَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، مَا تَأْمُرُنِي؟ إِنِّي ضَرِيرُ الْبَصَرِ، فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: غَيْرُ أُولِي الضَّرَرِ سورة النساء آية 95، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:" ائْتُونِي بِالْكَتِفِ وَالدَّوَاةِ، أَوْ اللَّوْحِ وَالدَّوَاةِ" .
