Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 18600
It is narrated on the authority of Bara bin Aazib (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the occasion of the Battle of Uhud, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) appointed Abdullah bin Jubair (may Allah be pleased with him) over fifty archers. He stationed them at a place and said, "Even if you see us being carried away by birds, do not leave your place until I send you a message. And if you see that we have overcome the enemy and have defeated them, even then do not leave your place until I send you a message." But when they saw the spoils of war, they began to say, "Spoils! Spoils!" Abdullah bin Jubair (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Have you forgotten what the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to you?" They did not listen to him. So, this verse was revealed: "When you saw the spoils, you were attracted by them and disobeyed." Meaning, when you saw the spoils of war and the defeat of the enemy, you disobeyed the order of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).

حضرت براء بن عازب رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ غزوہ احد کے موقع پر نبی کریم ﷺ نے پچاس تیر اندازوں پر حضرت عبداللہ بن جبیر رضی اللہ عنہ کو مقرر کردیا تھا اور انہیں ایک جگہ پر متعین کرکے فرما دیا اگر تم ہمیں اس حال میں دیکھو کہ ہمیں پرندے اچک کرلے جارہے ہیں تب بھی تم اپنی جگہ سے اس وقت تک نہ ہلنا جب تک میں تمہارے پاس پیغام نہ بھیج دوں اور اگر تم ہمیں اس حال میں دیکھو کہ ہم دشمن پر غالب آگئے ہیں اور ہم نے انہیں روند دیا ہے تب بھی تم اپنی جگہ سے اس وقت تک نہ ہلناجب تک میں تمہارے پاس پیغام نہ بھیج دوں۔ لیکن جب انہوں نے مال غنیمت کو دیکھا تو کہنے لگے لوگو! مال غنیمت، حضرت عبداللہ بن جبیر رضی اللہ عنہ نے فرمایا کیا تم وہ بات فراموش کررہے ہو جو نبی کریم ﷺ نے تم سے فرمائی تھی؟ انہوں نے ان کی بات نہیں مانی چناچہ یہ آیت نازل ہوئی تم نے جب اپنی پسندیدہ چیزیں دیکھیں تو نافرمانی کرنے لگے یعنی مال غنیمت اور دشمن کی شکست کو دیکھ کر تم نے پیغمبر ﷺ کا حکم نہ مانا۔
Hazrat Bara bin Aazib Radi Allaho Anhu se marvi hai ki ghazwa e uhud ke mauqe par Nabi Kareem Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam ne pachas teer andazon par Hazrat Abdullah bin Jabeer Radi Allaho Anhu ko muqarrar kar diya tha aur unhen ek jaga par mutayen karke farma diya agar tum hamen is hal mein dekho ki hamen parinde uchak kar le ja rahe hain tab bhi tum apni jaga se us waqt tak na hilna jab tak main tumhare pass paigham na bhej dun aur agar tum hamen is hal mein dekho ki hum dushman par ghalib aa gaye hain aur humne unhen rond diya hai tab bhi tum apni jaga se us waqt tak na hilna jab tak main tumhare pass paigham na bhej dun lekin jab unhon ne mal e ghanimat ko dekha to kahne lage logo mal e ghanimat Hazrat Abdullah bin Jabeer Radi Allaho Anhu ne farmaya kya tum wo baat faramosh kar rahe ho jo Nabi Kareem Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam ne tum se farmai thi unhon ne un ki baat nahin mani chunancha yeh ayat nazil hui tumne jab apni pasandida cheezen dekhin to nafarmani karne lage yani mal e ghanimat aur dushman ki shikast ko dekh kar tumne Paighambar Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam ka hukum na mana.
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ ، حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ ، عَن أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، عَن الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ ، قَالَ: جَعَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى الرُّمَاةِ وَكَانُوا خَمْسِينَ رَجُلًا عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ جُبَيْرٍ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ، وَقَالَ: " إِنْ رَأَيْتُمْ الْعَدُوَّ وَرَأَيْتُمْ الطَّيْرَ تَخْطَفُنَا، فَلَا تَبْرَحُوا". فَلَمَّا رَأَوْا الْغَنَائِمَ، قَالُوا: عَلَيْكُمْ الْغَنَائِمَ، فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ: أَلَمْ يَقُلْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: لَا تَبْرَحُوا؟ قَالَ غَيْرُهُ: فَنَزَلَتْ: وَعَصَيْتُمْ مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا أَرَاكُمْ مَا تُحِبُّونَ سورة آل عمران آية 152 ، يَقُولُ: عَصَيْتُمْ الرَّسُولَ مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا أَرَاكُمْ الْغَنَائِمَ وَهَزِيمَةَ الْعَدُوِّ.
