The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 1905
Ibn Abi Malikah (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated that when Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) was on her deathbed, Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with both of them) asked her permission to enter. She had her nephews with her, and she said, "I fear that he will come and praise me." However, she gave him permission. He entered and said, "The time remaining between you and your meeting with your other companions is only that in which the soul departs from the body. You were the most beloved to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) from amongst all his pure wives, and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) loved that which was pure. On the occasion of Laylat al-Abwa' (the night of the necklace), your necklace broke and fell, and verses of the Holy Quran were revealed in your honor. Now there is no mosque of the Muslims where the verses of your innocence are not recited day and night." Upon hearing this, she said, "O Ibn Abbas! Leave these praises of yours. By Allah, my only wish is...(that I could depart from this world completely forgotten)."

ابن ابی ملیکہ رحمہ اللہ کہتے ہیں کہ سیدہ عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا کے مرض الوفات میں سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما نے ان سے اندر آنے کی اجازت مانگی، ان کے پاس ان کے بھتیجے تھے، وہ کہنے لگیں: مجھے اندیشہ ہے کہ یہ آ کر میری تعریفیں کریں گے، بہرحال! انہوں نے اجازت دے دی، انہوں نے اندر آکر کہا کہ آپ کے اور دیگر دوستوں کے درمیان ملاقات کا صرف اتنا ہی وقت باقی ہے جس میں روح جسم سے جدا ہو جائے، آپ نبی ﷺ کی تمام ازواج مطہرات میں نبی ﷺ کو سب سے زیادہ محبوب رہیں، اور نبی ﷺ اسی چیز کو محبوب رکھتے تھے جو طیب ہو، لیلۃ الابواء کے موقع پر آپ کا ہار ٹوٹ کر گر پڑا تھا تو آپ کی شان میں قرآن کریم کی آیات نازل ہو گئی تھیں، اب مسلمانوں کی کوئی مسجد ایسی نہیں ہے جہاں پر دن رات آپ کے عذر کی تلاوت نہ ہوتی ہو، یہ سن کر وہ فرمانے لگیں: اے ابن عباس! اپنی ان تعریفوں کو چھوڑو، واللہ! میری تو خواہش ہے . . . (کہ میں برابر سرابر چھوٹ جاؤں)۔
Ibn Abi Malika rehmatullah alaih kahte hain ki Sayyida Ayesha ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ا) ke marz ul wafat mein Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a ne un se andar aane ki ijazat mangi, un ke pass un ke bhateeje the, woh kahne lagi: mujhe andesha hai ki yeh aa kar meri tareefain karenge, beherhaal! Unhon ne ijazat de di, unhon ne andar aakar kaha ki aap ke aur doosre doston ke darmiyaan mulakat ka sirf itna hi waqt baqi hai jis mein rooh jism se juda ho jaye, aap Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki tamam azwaj mutahharaat mein Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko sab se zyada mahboob rahin, aur Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) isi cheez ko mahboob rakhte the jo tayyab ho, Laylatul al abwa ke mauqe par aap ka haar toot kar gir pada tha to aap ki shan mein Quran e Kareem ki ayat nazil ho gayi thin, ab Musalmanon ki koi masjid aisi nahin hai jahan par din raat aap ke uzr ki tilawat na hoti ho, yeh sunkar woh farmane lagi: aye Ibn Abbas! Apni in tareefon ko chhoro, wallahi! Meri to khwahish hai... (ki mein barabar sarabar chhoot jaun).
حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ خُثَيْمٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ، يَعْنِي ," اسْتَأْذَنَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ عَلَى عَائِشَةَ، فَلَمْ يَزَلْ بِهَا بَنُو أَخِيهَا، قَالَتْ: أَخَافُ أَنْ يُزَكِّيَنِي، فَلَمَّا أَذِنَتْ لَهُ، قَالَ: مَا بَيْنَكِ وَبَيْنَ أَنْ تَلْقَيْ الأَحِبَّةَ، إِلَّا أَنْ يُفَارِقَ الرُّوحُ الْجَسَدَ، كُنْتِ أَحَبَّ أَزْوَاجِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَيْهِ، وَلَمْ يَكُنْ يُحِبُّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَّا طَيِّبًا، وَسَقَطَتْ قِلَادَتُكِ لَيْلَةَ الْأَبْوَاءِ، فَنَزَلَتْ فِيكِ آيَاتٌ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ، فَلَيْسَ مَسْجِدٌ مِنْ مَسَاجِدِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ، إِلَّا يُتْلَى فِيهِ عُذْرُكِ آنَاءَ اللَّيْلِ وَآنَاءَ النَّهَارِ، فَقَالَتْ: دَعْنِي مِنْ تَزْكِيَتِكَ يَا ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ، فَوَاللَّهِ لَوَدِدْتُ".
