The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 1904
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyidina Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was drinking something, Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) was sitting on his right and Sayyidina Khalid bin Waleed (may Allah be pleased with him) was on his left. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to him, "You have the right to drink, but if you wish, I may give preference to Khalid and give it to him?" He said that he could not give preference to anyone over the drink left by the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ نبی ﷺ کچھ پی رہے تھے، ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما دائیں جانب بیٹھے ہوئے تھے اور سیدنا خالد بن ولید رضی اللہ عنہ بائیں جانب، نبی ﷺ نے ان سے فرمایا کہ ”پینے کا حق تو تمہارا ہے لیکن اگر تم چاہو تو میں خالد کو ترجیح دے کر یہ دے دوں؟“ انہوں نے کہا کہ نبی ﷺ کے چھوڑے ہوئے مشروب پر میں کسی کو ترجیح نہیں دے سکتا۔
Sayyidna Ibn Abbas Raziallahu Anhuma se marvi hai ki ek martaba Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) kuchh pee rahe the, Ibn Abbas Raziallahu Anhuma daayen janib baithe hue the aur Sayyidna Khalid bin Waleed Raziallahu Anhu baayen janib, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne unse farmaya ki "peene ka haq to tumhara hai lekin agar tum chaho to main Khalid ko tarjih de kar ye de dun?" Unhon ne kaha ki Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke chhode hue mashroob par main kisi ko tarjih nahi de sakta.
حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُدْعَانَ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ حَرْمَلَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ , شَرِبَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ، وَخَالِدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ عَنْ شِمَالِهِ، فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:" الشَّرْبَةُ لَكَ، وَإِنْ شِئْتَ آثَرْتَ بِهَا خَالِدًا،" , قَالَ: مَا أُوثِرُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَحَدًا.
