The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 1977
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyidina Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was a slave (of Allah) entrusted with a mission. By Allah! He conveyed the message he was sent with, and he did not tell us anything specific except for three things: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) specifically commanded us to perform ablution thoroughly, that we should not eat charity, and that we should not breed donkeys with horses. The narrator said, "I met Abdullah bin Hasan and told him that Abdullah bin Ubaydullah narrated this hadith to me." He said, "The people of Banu Hashim had few horses and they wanted to increase their number."

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ ایک عبد مامور تھے، واللہ! انہیں جو پیغام دے کر بھیجا گیا تھا، انہوں نے وہ پہنچا دیا، اور لوگوں کو چھوڑ کر خصوصیت کے ساتھ انہوں نے ہمیں کوئی بات نہیں بتائی، سوائے تین چیزوں کے، ایک تو نبی ﷺ نے ہمیں خصوصیت کے ساتھ وضو مکمل کرنے کا حکم دیا، دوسرا یہ کہ ہم صدقہ نہ کھائیں، اور تیسرا یہ کہ ہم کسی گدھے کو گھوڑی پر نہ کدوائیں۔ راوی کہتے ہیں کہ میں عبداللہ بن حسن سے ملا اور ان سے کہا کہ عبداللہ بن عبیداللہ نے مجھے یہ حدیث بیان کی ہے، انہوں نے فرمایا کہ بنو ہاشم میں گھوڑوں کی تعداد تھوڑی ہے، وہ ان میں اضافہ کرنا چاہتے تھے۔
Sayyidna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ek Abd mamoor thay, Wallah! Unhen jo paigham de kar bheja gaya tha, unhon ne woh pohancha diya, aur logon ko chhod kar khususiyat ke saath unhon ne humain koi baat nahin batai, siwaye teen cheezon ke, ek to Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne humain khususiyat ke saath wazu mukammal karne ka hukm diya, doosra yeh ki hum sadaqah na khaiyen, aur teesra yeh ki hum kisi gadhe ko ghodi par na chadwayen. Ravi kehte hain ki main Abdullah bin Hasan se mila aur un se kaha ki Abdullah bin Ubaidullah ne mujhe yeh hadees bayaan ki hai, unhon ne farmaya ki Banu Hashim mein ghodon ki tadad thori hai, woh un mein izafa karna chahte thay.
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ سَالِمٍ أَبُو جَهْضَمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، سَمِعَ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَبْدًا مَأْمُورًا بَلَّغَ، وَاللَّهِ مَا أُرْسِلَ بِهِ وَمَا اخْتَصَّنَا دُونَ النَّاسِ بِشَيْءٍ لَيْسَ ثَلَاثًا،" أَمَرَنَا أَنْ نُسْبِغَ الْوُضُوءَ، وَأَنْ لَا نَأْكُلَ الصَّدَقَةَ، وَأَنْ لَا نُنْزِيَ حِمَارًا عَلَى فَرَسٍ"، قَالَ مُوسَى: فَلَقِيتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ حَسَنٍ، فَقُلْتُ: إِنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي كَذَا وَكَذَا، فَقَالَ: إِنَّ الْخَيْلَ كَانَتْ فِي بَنِي هَاشِمٍ قَلِيلَةً، فَأَحَبَّ أَنْ تَكْثُرَ فِيهِمْ.
