Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 19831
It is narrated on the authority of Imran bin Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade us from treating with branding. But we continued branding and were never successful.

حضرت عمران بن حصین رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ نبی ﷺ نے ہمیں داغنے کا علاج کرنے سے منع فرمایا ہے، لیکن ہم داغتے رہے اور کبھی کامیاب نہ ہوسکے۔
Hazrat Imran bin Husain RA se marvi hai ke Nabi SAW ne humein daghne ka ilaaj karne se mana farmaya hai, lekin hum daghte rahe aur kabhi kamyab na hosake.
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ , وَيَزِيدُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ ، عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ ، قَالَ:" نَهَانَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ الْكَيِّ، فَاكْتَوَيْنَا، فَمَا أَفْلَحْنَا وَلَا أَنْجَحْنَا" .
