Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 19899
It is narrated on the authority of Imran bin Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) that he asked the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) about praying while sitting. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Praying while standing is best. The reward for praying while sitting is half of that of praying while standing, and the reward for praying while lying down is half of that of praying while sitting."

حضرت عمران بن حصین رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ انہوں نے نبی ﷺ سے بیٹھ کر نماز پڑھنے کے متعلق پوچھا تو نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا کھڑے ہو کر نماز پڑھنا سب سے افضل ہے، بیٹھ کر نماز پڑھنے کا ثواب کھڑے ہو کر نماز پڑھنے سے نصف ہے اور لیٹ کر نماز پڑھنے کا ثواب بیٹھ کر نماز پڑھنے سے نصف ہے۔
Hazrat Imran bin Husain Raziallahu Anhu se marvi hai ki unhon ne Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) se baith kar namaz padhne ke mutaliq poocha to Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya kharay ho kar namaz padhna sab se afzal hai, baith kar namaz padhne ka sawab kharay ho kar namaz padhne se nisf hai aur lait kar namaz padhne ka sawab baith kar namaz padhne se nisf hai.
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ حُسَيْنٍ الْمُعَلِّمِ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ بُرَيْدَةَ ، عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ , أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ صَلَاةِ الرَّجُلِ قَاعِدًا، فَقَالَ: " مَنْ صَلَّى قَائِمًا، فَهُوَ أَفْضَلُ، وَصَلَاةُ الرَّجُلِ قَاعِدًا عَلَى النِّصْفِ مِنْ صَلَاتِهِ قَائِمًا، وَصَلَاتُهُ نَائِمًا عَلَى النِّصْفِ مِنْ صَلَاتِهِ قَاعِدًا" .
