Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 19936
Abu al-Aswad ad-Du'ali (may Allah have mercy on him) said: One day I was with Imran ibn Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) and he said, "O Abu al-Aswad! A man from the tribe of Juhainah came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said, 'O Messenger of Allah! Tell us, regarding the deeds that people do today and strive for, has their judgment already been passed and predestined, or will they be judged in the future according to the teachings that you have brought, peace and blessings of Allah be upon you, and through which proof will be established against them?' The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, 'Rather, their judgment has already been passed and predestined.' He asked, 'O Messenger of Allah, why then do people act?' The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, 'Verily, Allah has made easy for every person that for which He created him,' and this is confirmed by the verse in the Holy Qur'an, 'And [by] the soul and He who proportioned it. And inspired it [with discernment of] its wickedness and its righteousness.'"

ابوالاسود دیلی رحمہ اللہ کہتے ہیں کہ ایک دن میں حضرت عمران بن حصین رضی اللہ عنہ کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوا، انہوں نے فرمایا اے ابوالاسود! قبیلہ جہینہ کا ایک آدمی نبی ﷺ کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوا اور عرض کیا یا رسول اللہ! یہ بتائیے کہ لوگ آج جو عمل کرتے ہیں اور اس میں محنت ومشقت سے کام لیتے ہیں، اس کا ان کے لئے فیصلہ ہوچکا ہے اور پہلے سے تقدیر جاری ہوچکی ہے یا آئندہ فیصلہ ہوگا جو نبی ﷺ کی لائی ہوئی تعلیمات کے مطابق ہوگا اور اس کے ذریعے ان پر حجت قائم کی جائے گی؟ نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا بلکہ پہلے سے فیصلہ ہوچکا اور تقدیر جاری ہوچکی، اس نے پوچھا یا رسول اللہ! پھر لوگ عمل کیوں کرتے ہیں؟ نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا اللہ تعالیٰ نے جس شخص کو دو میں سے کسی ایک مرتبے کے لئے پیدا کیا ہے، اس کیلئے وہی عمل آسان کردیتا ہے اور اس کی تصدیق قرآن کریم میں اس ارشاد سے بھی ہوئی ہے ونفس وماسواھا فالہمہا فجورہا وتقواہا
Abu alaswad daili rehmatullah alaih kehte hain ke aik din main hazrat imran bin hasin razi allaho anho ki khidmat main hazir hua, unhon ne farmaya aye abu alaswad! Qabila jahina ka aik aadmi nabi sallallaho alaihe wasallam ki khidmat main hazir hua aur arz kiya ya rasool allah! Yeh bataiye ke log aaj jo amal karte hain aur is mein mehnat-o-mushqqat se kaam lete hain, is ka un ke liye faisla ho chuka hai aur pehle se taqdeer jari ho chuki hai ya aayinda faisla hoga jo nabi sallallaho alaihe wasallam ki laai hui taleemat ke mutabiq hoga aur is ke zariye un par hujjat qaim ki jaye gi? Nabi sallallaho alaihe wasallam ne farmaya balke pehle se faisla ho chuka aur taqdeer jari ho chuki, is ne poocha ya rasool allah! Phir log amal kyun karte hain? Nabi sallallaho alaihe wasallam ne farmaya allah ta'ala ne jis shakhs ko do mein se kisi aik martaba ke liye paida kiya hai, is ke liye wohi amal aasan karta hai aur is ki tasdeeq quran kareem mein is irshad se bhi hui hai wanafs wamasa-waha falamaha fajooraha wataqwaha.
حَدَّثَنَا صَفْوَانُ بْنُ عِيسَى ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَزْرَةُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ عُقَيْلٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ يَعْمَرَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْأَسْوَدِ الدِّيْلِيِّ ، قَالَ: غَدَوْتُ عَلَى عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ يَوْمًا مِنَ الْأَيَّامِ، فَقَالَ: يَا أَبَا الْأَسْوَدِ، فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ: أَنَّ رَجُلًا مِنْ جُهَيْنَةَ أَوْ مِنْ مُزَيْنَةَ أَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، أَرَأَيْتَ مَا يَعْمَلُ النَّاسُ الْيَوْمَ وَيَكْدَحُونَ فِيهِ، شَيْءٌ قُضِيَ عَلَيْهِمْ أَوْ مَضَى عَلَيْهِمْ فِي قَدَرٍ قَدْ سَبَقَ، أَوْ فِيمَا يُسْتَقْبَلُونَ مِمَّا أَتَاهُمْ بِهِ نَبِيُّهُمْ وَاتُّخِذَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ بِهِ الْحُجَّةُ؟ قَالَ: " بَلْ شَيْءٌ قُضِيَ عَلَيْهِمْ، وَمَضَى عَلَيْهِمْ" قَالَ: فَلِمَ يَعْمَلُونَ إِذًا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ؟ قَالَ:" مَنْ كَانَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ خَلَقَهُ لِوَاحِدَةٍ مِنَ الْمَنْزِلَتَيْنِ يُهَيِّئُهُ لِعَمَلِهَا، وَتَصْدِيقُ ذَلِكَ فِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ: وَنَفْسٍ وَمَا سَوَّاهَا فَأَلْهَمَهَا فُجُورَهَا وَتَقْوَاهَا سورة الشمس آية 7 - 8" .
