Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 19960
It is narrated on the authority of Imran bin Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) finished the Asr prayer after offering only three rak'ahs (units) and went inside his house. A man, whose name was "Khirbaq" and who had rather long hands, stood up and called out, "O Messenger of Allah!". When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came out, he informed him that he had only offered three rak'ahs. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came back in and asked the people, "Did he say the truth?". The people replied, "Yes!". So, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) offered one short rak'ah and finished the prayer with the tasleem (salutation of peace), then he prostrated for forgetfulness (sajdah sahw) twice and finished the prayer again with the tasleem.

حضرت عمران بن حصین رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ نبی ﷺ نے عصر کی تین رکعتوں پر ہی سلام پھیر دیا اور سلام پھیر کر گھر چلے گئے، ایک آدمی جس کا نام " خرباق " تھا اور اس کے ہاتھ کچھ زیادہ ہی لمبے تھے، اٹھ کر گیا اور " یا رسول اللہ " کہہ کر پکارا، نبی ﷺ باہر تشریف لائے تو اس نے بتایا کہ آپ نے تین رکعتیں پڑھائی ہیں، نبی ﷺ واپس آئے اور لوگوں سے پوچھا کیا یہ سچ کہہ رہا ہے؟ لوگوں نے عرض کیا جی ہاں! تو نبی ﷺ نے چھوٹی ہوئی ایک رکعت پڑھائی اور سلام پھیر کر سہو کے دو سجدے کئے اور سلام پھیر دیا۔
Hazrat Imran bin Husain (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se marvi hai ki ek martaba Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne Asr ki teen rakaton par hi salam phair diya aur salam phair kar ghar chale gaye, ek aadmi jis ka naam " Kharbaq " tha aur uske hath kuchh zyada hi lambe the, uth kar gaya aur " Ya Rasulullah " keh kar pukara, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) bahar tashreef laaye to usne bataya ki aap ne teen rakaten parhayi hain, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) wapas aaye aur logon se pucha kya ye sach keh raha hai? Logon ne arz kiya ji haan! To Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne chhoti hui ek rakat parhayi aur salam phair kar sahu ke do sajde kiye aur salam phair diya.
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْمُهَلَّبِ ، عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ ، قَالَ: " صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الظُّهْرَ أَوْ الْعَصْرَ ثَلَاثَ رَكَعَاتٍ، ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ" ، فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُقَالُ لَهُ: الْخِرْبَاقُ: أَقُصِرَتْ الصَّلَاةُ؟ فَسَأَلَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَإِذَا هُوَ كَمَا قَالَ، فَصَلَّى رَكْعَةً، ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ، ثُمَّ سَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ، ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ.
