Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 19959
Abu Nadra reported: Once Imran bin Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) passed by our mosque. I went up to him, took hold of the reins of his mount and asked him about the prayer during the journey. He said: We set out with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) for Hajj, and he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) continued offering two rak'ahs (in every prayer) until he returned (from the journey). Then Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) and Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) did the same. For six or eight years, Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) also did the same. After that, he began to offer four rak'ahs (in Zuhr, Asr and Isha) during his journey.

ابونضرہ کہتے ہیں کہ ایک مرتبہ حضرت عمران بن حصین رضی اللہ عنہ ہماری مسجد کے پاس سے گذرے، میں ان کی طرف بڑھا اور ان کی سواری کی لگام پکڑ کر ان سے نماز سفر کے متعلق پوچھا، انہوں نے فرمایا کہ ہم لوگ نبی ﷺ کے ساتھ حج کے لئے نکلے تو نبی ﷺ واپسی تک دو دو رکعتیں پڑھتے رہے، پھر حضرت ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ وعمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے بھی اسی طرح کیا، چھ یا آٹھ سال تک حضرت عثمان رضی اللہ عنہ نے بھی اسی طرح کیا، اس کے بعد وہ منٰی میں چار رکعتیں پڑھنے لگے۔
Abunazra kehte hain ke aik martaba Hazrat Imran bin Husain razi Allah anhu hamari masjid ke paas se guzre, main un ki taraf barha aur un ki sawari ki lagam pakar kar un se namaz safar ke mutalliq pucha, unhon ne farmaya ke hum log Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke saath Hajj ke liye nikle to Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) wapsi tak do do rakat parhte rahe, phir Hazrat Abubakar razi Allah anhu wa Umar razi Allah anhu ne bhi isi tarah kiya, chhe ya aath saal tak Hazrat Usman razi Allah anhu ne bhi isi tarah kiya, iske baad wo Mani mein chaar rakat parhne lage.
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ زَيْدٍ ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا نَضْرَةَ ، قَالَ: مَرَّ عَلَى مَسْجِدِنَا عِمْرَانُ بْنُ حُصَيْنٍ ، فَقُمْتُ إِلَيْهِ فَأَخَذْتُ بِلِجَامِهِ، فَسَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ الصَّلَاةِ فِي السَّفَرِ، فَقَالَ:" خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الْحَجِّ، فَكَانَ يُصَلِّي رَكْعَتَيْنِ حَتَّى ذَهَبَ، وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ رَكْعَتَيْنِ حَتَّى ذَهَبَ، وَعُمَرُ رَكْعَتَيْنِ حَتَّى ذَهَبَ، وَعُثْمَانُ سِتَّ سِنِينَ أَوْ ثَمَانٍ، ثُمَّ أَتَمَّ الصَّلَاةَ بِمِنًى أَرْبَعًا" .
