The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 2039
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came out (to lead the prayer for rain) in such a manner that he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was walking slowly and with dignity, without any adornment, in humility and submission. He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) led the people in two rak'ahs as in the Eid prayer, but he did not deliver a sermon like you do.

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ نبی ﷺ اس طرح (نماز استسقاء پڑھانے کے لئے) باہر نکلے کہ آپ ﷺ خشوع و خضوع اور عاجزی و زاری کرتے ہوئے، کسی قسم کی زیب و زینت کے بغیر، آہستگی اور وقار کے ساتھ چل رہے تھے، آپ ﷺ نے لوگوں کو دو دو رکعتیں پڑھائیں جیسے عید میں پڑھاتے تھے لیکن تمہاری طرح خطبہ ارشاد نہیں فرمایا۔
Sayyidna Ibn Abbas razi Allah anhuma se marvi hai ki ek martaba Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) is tarah (namaz istisqa parhane ke liye) bahar nikle ke aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) khushu o khushu aur ajzi o zari karte hue, kisi qism ki zeb o zینت ke baghair, ahista ahista aur waqar ke sath chal rahe the, aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne logon ko do do rakaaten parhaen jaise eid mein parhate the lekin tumhari tarah khutba irshad nahin farmaya.
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ كِنَانَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ" خَرَجَ مُتَخَشِّعًا مُتَضَرِّعًا مُتَوَاضِعًا مُتَبَذِّلًا مُتَرَسِّلًا، فَصَلَّى بِالنَّاسِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ كَمَا يُصَلِّي فِي الْعِيدِ لَمْ يَخْطُبْ كَخُطْبَتِكُمْ هَذِهِ".
