Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 20853
Samak says: I asked Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) whether he used to sit in the gatherings of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). He said: Yes, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would not leave the place where he prayed Fajr until sunrise. When the sun rose, he would get up. He would remain silent most of the time, and he would seldom laugh. However, in the presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), the Companions would talk and laugh while mentioning the events of the pre-Islamic period, and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would smile.

سماک کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے حضرت جابر بن سمرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے پوچھا کہ کیا آپ نبی ﷺ کی مجلسوں میں شریک ہوتے تھے انہوں نے فرمایا کہ ہاں نبی ﷺ جس جگہ پر نماز فجر پڑھتے تھے طلوع آفتاب تک وہاں سے نہیں اٹھتے تھے جب سورج طلوع ہوجاتا تو اٹھ جاتے تھے اور زیادہ وقت خاموش رہتے تھے اور کم ہنستے تھے البتہ نبی ﷺ کی موجودگی میں صحابہ باتیں بھی کہہ لیا کرتے تھے اور زمانہ جاہلیت کے واقعات ذکر کرکے ہنستے بھی تھے لیکن نبی ﷺ تبسم فرماتے تھے۔
Samak kehty hain keh maine Hazrat Jabir bin Samrah (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se poocha keh kya aap Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki majlison mein shareek hote thy unhon ne farmaya keh haan Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) jis jaga per namaz fajr parhty thy talu aftab tak wahan se nahi uthty thy jab sooraj talu hojata to uth jaty thy aur zyada waqt khamosh rehty thy aur kam hansty thy albatta Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki mojoodgi mein sahaba baaten bhi keh liya karty thy aur zamanah jahiliyat ke waqayat zikar kar ky hansty bhi thy lekin Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) tabassum farmaty thy.
حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ، قَالَ: " شَهِدْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ مِائَةِ مَرَّةٍ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ، وَأَصْحَابُهُ يَتَذَاكَرُونَ الشِّعْرَ وَأَشْيَاءَ مِنْ أَمْرِ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ، فَرُبَّمَا تَبَسَّمَ مَعَهُمْ" .
