Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 21684
Narrated by Zayd bin Khalid (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "If I had not feared hardship for my Ummah, I would have ordered them to use Miswak at the time of every prayer." That is why when Zayd bin Khalid (may Allah be pleased with him) would go to the mosque, he would keep the Miswak on his ear like a scribe's pen, and when the Iqamah would be called, he would use the Miswak before starting the prayer.

حضرت زید بن خالد رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ نبی کریم ﷺ نے ارشاد فرمایا اگر مجھے اپنی امت پر مشقت کا اندیشہ نہ ہوتا تو میں انہیں ہر نماز کے وقت مسواک کرنے کا حکم دیتا اسی وجہ سے حضرت زید بن خالد رضی اللہ عنہ جب مسجد میں جاتے تو مسواک ان کے کانوں پر اس طرح رکھی ہوتی تھی جیسے کاتب کا قلم ہوتا ہے اور جب اقامت ہوتی تو وہ نماز شروع ہونے سے پہلے مسواک کرتے تھے۔

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ , عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ , عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ التَّيْمِيِّ , عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ , عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ , قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم: " لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ" , قَالَ: فَكَانَ زَيْدٌ يَرُوحُ إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ , وَسِوَاكُهُ عَلَى أُذُنِهِ بِمَوْضِعِ قَلَمِ الْكَاتِبِ , مَا تُقَامُ صَلَاةٌ إِلَّا اسْتَاكَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ.
