Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 21956
It is narrated on the authority of Bashir (May Allah be pleased with him) that he came to the service of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). His name was Zahm, but the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) changed it to Bashir.

حضرت بشیر رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ وہ نبی کریم ﷺ کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوئے، ان کا نام زحم تھا، نبی کریم ﷺ نے اسے بدل کر ان کا نام بشیر رکھ دیا۔
Hazrat Bashir Raziallahu Anhu se marvi hai ki woh Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki khidmat mein hazir hue, un ka naam Zahm tha, Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne use badal kar un ka naam Bashir rakh diya.
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي بُكَيْرٍ , حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ إِيَادِ بْنِ لَقِيطٍ الشَّيْبَانِيُّ , عَنْ أَبِيهِ , عَنْ لَيْلَى امْرَأَةِ بَشِيرِ ابْنِ الْخَصَاصِيَّةِ , عَنْ بَشِيرٍ , قَالَ: وَكَانَ قَدْ أَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: اسْمُهُ زَحْمٌ , " فَسَمَّاهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَشِيرًا" .
