Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 22702
It is narrated on the authority of Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I was ill, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came to visit me with some Ansar. He asked the people present there, “Do you know who is a martyr?” The people remained silent. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked again, and the people again remained silent. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked the same question a third time, so I said to my wife, "Help me sit up." She did so, and I said, "The one who accepts Islam, migrates, and then is martyred in the way of Allah is a martyr." The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Then the martyrs of my Ummah would be very few. Being killed in the way of Allah is martyrdom, dying from a stomach ailment is martyrdom, drowning is martyrdom, and the death of a woman in the state of childbirth is also martyrdom."

حضرت عبادہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ میں بیمار تھا نبی کریم ﷺ کچھ انصاری لوگوں کے ساتھ میری عیادت کے لئے تشریف لائے وہاں موجود لوگوں سے پوچھا کیا تم جانتے ہو کہ شہید کون ہوتا ہے؟ لوگ خاموش رہے نبی کریم ﷺ نے دوبارہ سوال کیا لوگ پھر خاموش رہے نبی کریم ﷺ نے تیسری مرتبہ یہی سوال کیا تو میں نے اپنی بیوی سے کہا کہ مجھے سہارا دے کر بٹھا دو اس نے ایسا ہی کیا اور میں نے عرض کیا جو شخص اسلام لائے ہجرت کرے پھر اللہ کے راستہ میں شہید ہوجائے تو وہ شہید ہوتا ہے نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا اس طرح تو میری امت کے شہداء بہت تھوڑے رہ جائیں گے اللہ کے راستے میں مارا جانا بھی شہادت ہے پیٹ کی بیماری میں مرنا بھی شہادت ہے غرق ہو کر مرجانا بھی شہادت ہے اور نفاس کی حالت میں عورت کا مرجانا بھی شہادت ہے۔
Hazrat Ubadah Raziallahu Anhu se marvi hai ki aik martaba mein bimar tha Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) kuch Ansaari logon ke sath meri aiadat ke liye tashreef laaye wahan mojood logon se poocha kya tum jante ho ki shaheed kaun hota hai? Log khamosh rahe Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne dobara sawal kiya log phir khamosh rahe Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne teesri martaba yahi sawal kiya to maine apni biwi se kaha ki mujhe sahara dekar bitha do usne aisa hi kiya aur maine arz kiya jo shakhs Islam laaye hijrat kare phir Allah ke raaste mein shaheed ho jaaye to wo shaheed hota hai Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya is tarah to meri ummat ke shuhada bahut thore reh jayenge Allah ke raaste mein mara jana bhi shahadat hai pet ki bimari mein marna bhi shahadat hai gharq hokar mar jana bhi shahadat hai aur nifas ki halat mein aurat ka mar jana bhi shahadat hai.
حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْمُعَافَى ، حَدَّثَنَا مُغِيرَةُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ ، عَنْ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ نُسَيٍّ ، عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ ثَعْلَبَةَ ، عَنْ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ ، قَالَ: أَتَانِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَنَا مَرِيضٌ فِي نَاسٍ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ يَعُودُونِي، فَقَالَ: " هَلْ تَدْرُونَ مَا الشَّهِيدُ؟" فَسَكَتُوا، فَقَالَ:" هَلْ تَدْرُونَ مَا الشَّهِيدُ؟" فَسَكَتُوا، قَالَ:" هَلْ تَدْرُونَ مَا الشَّهِيدُ؟" فَقُلْتُ لِامْرَأَتِي: أَسْنِدِينِي، فَأَسْنَدَتْنِي، فَقُلْتُ: مَنْ أَسْلَمَ، ثُمَّ هَاجَرَ، ثُمَّ قُتِلَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ، فَهُوَ شَهِيدٌ , فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:" إِنَّ شُهَدَاءَ أُمَّتِي إِذًا لَقَلِيلٌ، الْقَتْلُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ شَهَادَةٌ، وَالْبَطْنُ شَهَادَةٌ، وَالْغَرَقُ شَهَادَةٌ، وَالنُّفَسَاءُ شَهَادَةٌ" .
