Hadith of Abu Malik Sahl ibn Sa'd al-Sa'idi (may Allah be pleased with him)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 22803
It is narrated on the authority of Sahal (may Allah be pleased with him) that he was present in the service of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) when a husband and wife invoked the curse of Allah upon each other (Li'an). I was fifteen years old at that time. The man submitted: “O Messenger of Allah! If I keep her with me, it is as if I have accused her falsely.” Then, the child born to this woman had features that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) disapproved of.

حضرت سہل رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ وہ اس وقت نبی کریم ﷺ کی خدمت میں حاضر تھے جب دو میاں بیوی نے ایک دوسرے سے لعان کیا اس وقت میری عمر پندرہ سال تھی اس آدمی نے عرض کیا یا رسول اللہ! اگر میں نے اسے اپنے پاس ہی رکھا تو گویا میں نے اس پر جھوٹا الزام لگایا پھر اس عورت کے یہاں پیدا ہونے والا بچہ اس شکل و صورت کا تھا جس پر نبی کریم ﷺ نے ناپسندیدگی ظاہر کی تھی۔
Hazrat Sahl razi Allah anhu se marvi hai ki woh us waqt Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki khidmat mein hazir thay jab do miyan biwi ne ek dusre se liaan kiya us waqt meri umar pandrah saal thi is aadmi ne arz kiya Ya Rasul Allah agar maine ise apne pass hi rakha to goya maine is par jhoota ilzaam lagaya phir is aurat ke yahan paida hone wala bachcha is shakal o surat ka tha jis par Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne napasandeedagi zahir ki thi.
حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، سَمِعَ سَهْلَ بْنَ سَعْدٍ ," شَهِدَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الْمُتَلَاعِنَيْنِ، فَتَلَاعَنَا عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَأَنَا ابْنُ خَمْسَ عَشْرَةَ، قَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، إِنْ أَمْسَكْتُهَا، فَقَدْ كَذَبْتُ عَلَيْهَا , قَالَ: فَجَاءَتْ بِهِ لِلَّذِي كَانَ يَكْرَهُ .
