The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 2311
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) intended to travel, he would say this supplication: "O Allah, You are my companion in travel and the One who takes care of my family in my absence. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the hardships of travel and the distress of returning. O Allah, fold the earth for us and make this journey easy for us." And when he intended to return, he would say this supplication: "We are returning, repenting, worshipping our Lord, and praising Him." And when he reached his family, he would say: "We repent, we turn back to our Lord. May He not leave any sin on us, may He protect us."

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ نبی ﷺ جب سفر پر نکلنے کا ارادہ فرماتے تو یہ دعا پڑھتے: «اَللّٰهُمَّ أَنْتَ الصَّاحِبُ فِي السَّفَرِ وَالْخَلِيفَةُ فِي الْأَهْلِ اَللّٰهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ الضُّبْنَةِ فِي السَّفَرِ وَالْكَآبَةِ فِي الْمُنْقَلَبِ اَللّٰهُمَّ اطْوِ لَنَا الْأَرْضَ وَهَوِّنْ عَلَيْنَا السَّفَرَ» ”اے اللہ! آپ سفر میں میرے ساتھی اور میرے اہل خانہ میں میرے پیچھے محافظ ہیں، اے اللہ! میں سفر کی تنگی اور واپسی کی پریشانی سے آپ کی پناہ میں آتا ہوں، اے اللہ! زمین کو ہمارے لئے لپیٹ کر ہمارے لئے اس سفر کو آسان فرما دیجئے“، اور جب واپسی کا ارادہ فرماتے تو یہ دعا پڑھتے: «آيِبُونَ تَائِبُونَ عَابِدُونَ لِرَبِّنَا حَامِدُونَ» ”ہم توبہ کرتے ہوئے، عبادت کرتے ہوئے اور اپنے رب کا شکر ادا کرتے ہوئے واپس ہو رہے ہیں“، اور جب اہل خانہ کے پاس پہنچتے تو فرماتے: «تَوْبًا تَوْبًا لِرَبِّنَا أَوْبًا لَا يُغَادِرُ عَلَيْنَا حَوْبًا» ”ہماری توبہ ہے، اپنے رب کی طرف رجوع ہے، وہ ہم پر کوئی گناہ باقی نہ چھوڑے۔“
Sayyidina Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) jab safar par nikalne ka irada farmate to ye dua parhte: «Allahumma Antas Sahibu fis Safar Wal Khalifatu fil Ahl Allahumma inni audhu bika minad dubnati fis safar walkabaati fil munqalab Allahumma itwi lana al arda wahawwin alaina as safar» ”Aye Allah! Aap safar mein mere sathi aur mere ahl khana mein mere piche muhafiz hain, Aye Allah! mein safar ki tangi aur wapsi ki pareshani se aap ki panaah mein aata hun, Aye Allah! zameen ko hamare liye lapet kar hamare liye is safar ko aasan farma dijiye“, aur jab wapsi ka irada farmate to ye dua parhte: «Aaiboona taaiboona aabidoona li rabbina hamidun» ”hum tauba karte hue, ibadat karte hue aur apne rab ka shukar ada karte hue wapis ho rahe hain“, aur jab ahl khana ke pass pahuchte to farmate: «Tauban tauban li rabbina awban la yughadiru alaina hawban» ”Hamari tauba hai, apne rab ki taraf rujoo hai, woh hum par koi gunah baqi na chhore۔“
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، وَسَمِعْتُهُ أَنَا مِنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَخْرُجَ إِلَى سَفَرٍ، قَالَ:" اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ الصَّاحِبُ فِي السَّفَرِ، وَالْخَلِيفَةُ فِي الْأَهْلِ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الضُّبْنَةِ فِي السَّفَرِ، وَالْكَآبَةِ فِي الْمُنْقَلَبِ، اللَّهُمَّ اطْوِ لَنَا الْأَرْضَ، وَهَوِّنْ عَلَيْنَا السَّفَرَ" , وَإِذَا أَرَادَ الرُّجُوعَ، قَالَ:" آيِبُونَ، تَائِبُونَ، عَابِدُونَ، لِرَبِّنَا حَامِدُونَ" , وَإِذَا دَخَلَ أَهْلَهُ، قَالَ:" تَوْبًا تَوْبًا، لِرَبِّنَا أَوْبًا، لَا يُغَادِرُ عَلَيْنَا حَوْبًا".
