Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 23214
It is narrated by a villager companion, may Allah be pleased with him, that he heard the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saying: “I fear the Quraysh for themselves.” I asked: “O Messenger of Allah, what do you mean?” The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “If you live long, you will see them here and you will find the common people among them like goats between two ponds, sometimes going to one and sometimes to the other.”

ایک دیہاتی صحابی رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ انہوں نے نبی کریم ﷺ کو یہ فرماتے ہوئے سنا ہے کہ مجھے قریش کے متعلق خود انہی سے خطرہ ہے، میں نے پوچھا یا رسول اللہ! کیا مطلب؟ نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا اگر تمہاری عمر لمبی ہوئی تو تم انہیں یہاں دیکھو گے اور عام لوگوں کو ان کے درمیان ایسے پاؤ گے جیسے دو حوضوں کے درمیان بکریاں ہوں جو کبھی ادھر جاتی ہیں اور کبھی ادھر۔
Ek dehati sahabi razi Allah anhu se marvi hai ki unhon ne nabi kareem salAllahu alaihi wasallam ko ye farmate huye suna hai ki mujhe quraish ke mutalliq khud unhi se khatra hai, maine poocha ya rasoolillah! kya matlab? nabi kareem salAllahu alaihi wasallam ne farmaya agar tumhari umar lambi hui to tum unhen yahan dekho ge aur aam logon ko un ke darmiyan aise pao ge jaise do hazon ke darmiyan bakriyan hon jo kabhi idhar jati hain aur kabhi udhar.
حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بنُ سَعْدٍ أَبو دَاوُدَ الْحَفَرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بنُ زَكَرِيَّا يَعْنِي ابنَ أَبي زَائِدَةَ ، حَدَّثَنِي سَعْدُ بنُ طَارِقٍ ، عَنْ بلَالِ بنِ يَحْيَى ، عَنِ عِمْرَانَ بنِ حُصَيْنٍ ، قَالَ: أَخْبرَنِي أَعْرَابيٌّ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ النَّبيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: " مَا أَخَافُ عَلَى قُرَيْشٍ إِلَّا أَنْفُسَهَا"، قُلْتُ: مَا لَهُمْ؟ قَالَ:" أَشِحَّةٌ نَحِرَةٌ، وَإِنْ طَالَ بكَ عُمْرٌ، لَتَنْظُرَنَّ إِلَيْهِمْ يَفْتِنُونَ النَّاسَ، حَتَّى تَرَى النَّاسَ بيْنَهُمْ كَالْغَنَمِ بيْنَ الْحَوْضَيْنِ، إِلَى هَذَا مَرَّةً، وَإِلَى هَذَا مَرَّةً" .
