Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 23757
Abdul Hamid bin Salmah narrates that his grandfather became Muslim during the lifetime of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) but his grandmother did not accept Islam. The grandfather and grandmother had a son from their wedlock. They both came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) regarding a dispute about the boy. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "If you both agree then give your son the option (to go with whomever he wants)." Then, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) made the father sit in one corner and the mother in another, and gave the choice to the child. The child started walking towards his mother, so the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) prayed, "O Allah! Guide this boy." And so, he returned to his father.

عبدالحمید بن سلمہ کہتے ہیں کہ ان کے دادا دور نبوت ہی میں مسلمان ہوگئے تھے لیکن ان کی دادی نے اسلام قبول نہیں کیا تھا دادا کا دادی سے ایک بیٹا تھا وہ دونوں اس کا مقدمہ لے کر نبی کریم ﷺ کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوئے نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا تم دونوں اگر مناسب سمجھو تو اپنے بیٹے کو اختیار دے دو (وہ جس کے پاس جانا چاہے چلاجائے) پھر نبی کریم ﷺ نے ایک کونے میں باپ کو بٹھایا اور دوسرے کونے میں ماں کو اور بچے کو اختیار دے دیا وہ بچہ ماں کی طرف چلنے لگا تو نبی کریم ﷺ نے دعا کی کہ اے اللہ! اس بچے کو ہدایت عطا فرما چناچہ وہ اپنے باپ کی طرف لوٹ آیا۔
Abdulhamid bin Salma kehte hain ke un ke dada dor e nabuat hi mein musalman hogaye the lekin un ki dadi ne Islam qubool nahin kiya tha dada ka dadi se ek beta tha woh donon is ka muqadma le kar Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki khidmat mein hazir huye Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya tum donon agar munasib samjho to apne bete ko ikhtiyar de do (woh jis ke pass jana chahe chala jaye) phir Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne ek kone mein baap ko bithaya aur dusre kone mein maa ko aur bache ko ikhtiyar de diya woh bacha maa ki taraf chalne laga to Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne dua ki ke aye Allah! is bache ko hidayat ata farma chunacha woh apne baap ki taraf laut aaya.
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ بَحْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ جَدِّي رَافِعِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ ، أَنَّهُ أَسْلَمَ وَأَبَتْ امْرَأَتُهُ أَنْ تُسْلِمَ، فَأَتَتْ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَتْ: ابْنَتِي، وَهِيَ فَطِيمٌ أَوْ شَبَهُهُ، وَقَالَ رَافِعٌ: ابْنَتِي، فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " اقْعُدْ نَاحِيَةً" وَقَالَ لَهَا:" اقْعُدِي نَاحِيَةً" فَأَقْعَدَ الصَّبِيَّةَ بَيْنَهُمَا، ثُمَّ قَالَ:" ادْعُوَاهَا" فَمَالَتْ إِلَى أُمِّهَا، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:" اللَّهُمَّ اهْدِهَا" فَمَالَتْ إِلَى أَبِيهَا، فَأَخَذَهَا .
