The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 2427
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) left the plain of Arafat, he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) made Sayyiduna Usama (may Allah be pleased with him) ride behind him and said: “Walk slowly, there is no goodness in racing horses and mounts.” Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Then I did not see any rider raising his hand (to speed up his animal) or moving swiftly ahead until we reached Muzdalifah. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) made Sayyiduna Fadl (may Allah be pleased with him) ride behind him from Muzdalifah to Mina and said: “O people! Walk slowly and with dignity, for there is no goodness in racing horses and camels.” After that, I did not see any rider galloping until we reached Mina.

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ جب نبی ﷺ عرفہ کے میدان سے واپس روانہ ہوئے تو سیدنا اسامہ رضی اللہ عنہ کو اپنے پیچھے بٹھا لیا اور فرمایا: ”سکون سے چلو، گھوڑے اور سواریاں تیز دوڑانا کوئی نیکی نہیں ہے“، ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ پھر میں نے اپنے ہاتھ بڑھانے والی کسی سواری کو تیزی سے آگے بڑھتے ہوئے نہیں دیکھا یہاں تک کہ ہم مزدلفہ پہنچ گئے، پھر نبی ﷺ نے مزدلفہ سے منی تک سیدنا فضل رضی اللہ عنہ کو اپنے پیچھے بٹھا لیا اور فرمانے لگے: ”لوگو! سکون اور وقار سے چلو کیونکہ گھوڑے اور اونٹ تیز دوڑانا کوئی نیکی نہیں ہے“، اس کے بعد میں نے کسی سواری کو سرپٹ دوڑتے ہوئے نہیں دیکھا یہاں تک کہ منی پہنچ گئے۔
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas Radi Allah Anhuma se marvi hai ki jab Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) Arafah ke maidan se wapas rawana huye to Sayyiduna Usama Radi Allah Anhu ko apne peeche bitha liya aur farmaya: “Sukoon se chalo, ghode aur sawariyan tez dorana koi neki nahi hai”, Ibn Abbas Radi Allah Anhuma kahte hain ki phir maine apne hath badhane wali kisi sawari ko tezi se aage badhte huye nahi dekha yahan tak ki hum Muzdalifah pahunch gaye, phir Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne Muzdalifah se Mina tak Sayyiduna Fazal Radi Allah Anhu ko apne peeche bitha liya aur farmane lage: “Logo! Sukoon aur waqar se chalo kyunki ghode aur unt tez dorana koi neki nahi hai”, is ke baad maine kisi sawari ko sarpat daurte huye nahi dekha yahan tak ki Mina pahunch gaye.
حَدَّثَنَا مُؤَمَّلُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ ، عَنْ مِقْسَمٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ: أَفَاضَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ عَرَفَةَ، وَأَمَرَهُمْ بِالسَّكِينَةِ، وَأَرْدَفَ أُسَامَةَ بْنَ زَيْدٍ، وَقَالَ:" يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ، عَلَيْكُمْ بِالسَّكِينَةِ وَالْوَقَارِ، فَإِنَّ الْبِرَّ لَيْسَ بِإِيجَافِ الْإِبِلِ وَالْخَيْلِ" , فَمَا رَأَيْتُ نَاقَةً رَافِعَةً يَدَهَا عَادِيَةً، حَتَّى بَلَغَتْ جَمْعًا، ثُمَّ أَرْدَفَ الْفَضْلَ بْنَ عَبَّاسٍ مِنْ جَمْعٍ إِلَى مِنًى، وَهُوَ يَقُولُ:" يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ، عَلَيْكُمْ بِالسَّكِينَةِ وَالْوَقَارِ، فَإِنَّ الْبِرَّ لَيْسَ بِإِيجَافِ الْإِبِلِ وَالْخَيْلِ" , فَمَا رَأَيْتُ نَاقَةً رَافِعَةً يَدَهَا عَادِيَةً، حَتَّى بَلَغَتْ مِنًى.
