Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 24302
Narrated by Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: The deceased is punished because of the crying of his family. When someone mentioned this to Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), she said that he must have imagined it. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) actually said that the deceased is being punished for his sins while his family is crying for him.

حضرت ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا ہے میت کو اس کے اہل خانہ کے رونے کی وجہ سے عذاب ہوتا ہے، کسی نے حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے اس بات کا ذکر کیا تو حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا فرمانے لگیں کہ انہیں وہم ہوگیا ہے، دراصل نبی ﷺ نے یہ فرمایا تھا کہ میت والے اس پر رو رہے ہوتے ہیں اور اسے اس کے گناہوں کی وجہ سے عذاب ہورہا ہوتا ہے۔
Hazrat Ibn Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya hai mayyat ko uske ahl khana ke rone ki wajah se azab hota hai kisi ne Hazrat Ayesha Radiallahu Anha se is baat ka zikr kiya to Hazrat Ayesha Radiallahu Anha farmane lagi ke unhe waham hogaya hai darasal Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne ye farmaya tha ke mayyat wale us par ro rahe hote hain aur use uske gunahon ki wajah se azab horaha hota hai
حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَت: قِيلَ لَهَا إِنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ يَرْفَعُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ" إِنَّ الْمَيِّتَ يُعَذَّبُ بِبُكَاءِ الْحَيِّ"، قَالَتْ: وَهِل أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، إِنَّمَا قَالَ: " إِنَّ أَهْلَ الْمَيِّتِ يَبْكُونَ عَلَيْهِ، وَإِنَّهُ لَيُعَذَّبُ بِجُرْمِهِ" .
