The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 2450
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyidina Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) never fasted a whole month except for Ramadan, but sometimes he would fast consecutively, so we would say that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would not break his fast. And sometimes he would break his fast consecutively, so we would say that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would not fast.

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ نبی ﷺ ماہ رمضان کے علاوہ کبھی بھی کسی پورے مہینے کے روزے نہیں رکھتے تھے، البتہ بعض اوقات اس تسلسل کے ساتھ روزے رکھتے تھے کہ ہم لوگ کہتے تھے کہ اب نبی ﷺ کوئی روزہ نہیں چھوڑیں گے، اور بعض اوقات اس تسلسل سے افطار فرماتے تھے کہ ہم کہتے تھے کہ اب نبی ﷺ کوئی روزہ نہیں رکھیں گے۔
Sayyidna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) mah Ramadan ke ilawa kabhi bhi kisi poore mahine ke roze nahi rakhte the, albatta baaz auqat is tasalsul ke sath roze rakhte the ki hum log kahte the ki ab Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) koi roza nahi chhodenge, aur baaz auqat is tasalsul se iftar farmate the ki hum kahte the ki ab Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) koi roza nahi rakhenge.
حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجُ بْنُ النُّعْمَانِ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي بِشْرٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ:" مَا صَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ شَهْرًا كَامِلًا قَطُّ، غَيْرَ رَمَضَانَ، وَإِنْ كَانَ لَيَصُومُ إِذَا صَامَ، حَتَّى يَقُولَ الْقَائِلُ: وَاللَّهِ لَا يُفْطِرُ، وَإِنْ كَانَ لَيُفْطِرُ إِذَا أَفْطَرَ، حَتَّى يَقُولَ الْقَائِلُ: وَاللَّهِ لَا يَصُومُ".
