Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 24508
Someone asked Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) about the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)'s voluntary fasts. She said that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to fast during the month of Shaban and he would be particularly mindful of fasting on Mondays and Thursdays.

حضرت عائشہ سے کسی شخص نے نبی ﷺ کے نفلی روزوں کے متعلق پوچھا تو انہوں نے فرمایا کہ نبی ﷺ ماہ شعبان کے روزے رکھتے تھے اور پیر اور جمعرات کے دن کا خصوصیت کے ساتھ خیال رکھتے تھے۔

حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا الْأَشْجَعِيُّ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ ثَوْرٍ ، عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ مَعْدَانَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أَنَّهَا سُئِلَتْ عَنْ صَوْمِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ؟ قَالَتْ: " كَانَ يَصُومُ شَعْبَانَ، وَيَتَحَرَّى الِاثْنَيْنِ وَالْخَمِيسَ" .
