Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 24566
It is narrated on the authority of Aisha that once Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) sent for Usman Ghani. When he arrived, the Prophet (peace be upon him) turned towards him. At the end of the conversation, the Prophet (peace be upon him) placed his hand on Usman's shoulder and said, "O Usman! Soon Allah Almighty will clothe you in a shirt. If the hypocrites wish to remove it from you, do not take it off until you consult me." He repeated this sentence three times. Nauman said, "I asked Aisha, 'O Mother of the Believers! Why didn't you mention this incident until now?'" She replied, "By Allah, I had forgotten about it. I didn't remember it." He then said, "Then I narrated this tradition to Ameer Muawiya, but he was not satisfied with just my narration. He wrote a letter to the Mother of the Believers requesting her to send him this narration in writing. So, she wrote that Hadith in a letter and sent it to Muawiya."

حضرت عائشہ سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ نبی ﷺ نے حضرت عثمان غنی کو بلا بھیجا، وہ آئے تو نبی ﷺ ان کی طرف متوجہ ہوگئے، نبی ﷺ نے اس گفتگو کے آخر میں حضرت عثمان کے کندھے پر ہاتھ رکھ کر فرمایا عثمان! عنقریب اللہ تعالیٰ تمہیں ایک قمیض پہنائے گا، اگر منافقین اسے اتارنا چاہیں تو تم اسے نہ اتارنا یہاں تک کہ مجھ سے آملو، تین مرتبہ یہ جملہ دہرایا، حضرت نعمان کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے ان سے کہا اے ام المومنین! اب تک یہ بات آپ نے کیوں ذکر نہیں فرمائی؟ انہوں نے فرمایا واللہ میں یہ بات بھول گئی تھی، مجھے یاد ہی نہیں رہی تھی، وہ کہتے ہیں کہ پھر میں نے یہ روایت حضرت امیر معاویہ کو سنائی لیکن وہ صرف میرے کہنے پر راضی نہیں ہوئے بلکہ انہوں نے ام المومنین کو خط لکھا کہ مجھے یہ لکھ کر بھجوا دیجئے، چنانچہ انہوں نے وہ حدیث ایک خط میں لکھ کر حضرت معاویہ کو بھیج دی۔
Hazrat Ayesha se marvi hai keh aik martaba Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne Hazrat Usman Ghani ko bula bheja, woh aaye toh Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) un ki taraf mutawajjah huay, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne is guftagu ke akhir mein Hazrat Usman ke kandhe par hath rakh kar farmaya Usman! Anqareeb Allah Ta'ala tumhein aik qameez pehnaye ga, agar munafiqeen ise utarna chahein toh tum ise na utarna yahan tak keh mujh se aamlo, teen martaba yeh jumla dohraya, Hazrat Nauman kehte hain keh maine un se kaha aye Um-ul-Momineen! Ab tak yeh baat aap ne kyun zikar nahi farmaayi? Unhon ne farmaya Wallah mein yeh baat bhul gayi thi, mujhe yaad hi nahi rahi thi, woh kehte hain keh phir maine yeh riwayat Hazrat Ameer Muawiya ko sunaayi lekin woh sirf mere kehne par raazi nahi huay balkay unhon ne Um-ul-Momineen ko khat likha keh mujhe yeh likh kar bhej dijiye, chunancha unhon ne woh hadees aik khat mein likh kar Hazrat Muawiya ko bhej di.
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي رَبِيعَةُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَامِرٍ ، عَنْ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ: أَرْسَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَفَّانَ، فَأَقْبَلَ عَلَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَلَمَّا رَأَيْنَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَقْبَلَتْ إِحْدَانَا عَلَى الْأُخْرَى، فَكَانَ مِنْ آخِرِ كَلَامٍ كَلَّمَهُ، أَنْ ضَرَبَ مَنْكِبَهُ، وَقَالَ:" يَا عُثْمَانُ، إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ عَسَى أَنْ يُلْبِسَكَ قَمِيصًا، فَإِنْ أَرَادَكَ الْمُنَافِقُونَ عَلَى خَلْعِهِ فَلَا تَخْلَعْهُ حَتَّى تَلْقَانِي، يَا عُثْمَانُ، إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَسَى أَنْ يُلْبِسَكَ قَمِيصًا فَإِنْ أَرَادَكَ الْمُنَافِقُونَ عَلَى خَلْعِهِ، فَلَا تَخْلَعْهُ حَتَّى تَلْقَانِي" ثَلَاثًا فَقُلْتُ لَهَا: يَا أُمَّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ، فَأَيْنَ كَانَ هَذَا عَنْكِ؟ قَالَتْ: نَسِيتُهُ وَاللَّهِ فَمَا ذَكَرْتُهُ. قَالَ: فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنَ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ، فَلَمْ يَرْضَ بِالَّذِي أَخْبَرْتُهُ حَتَّى كَتَبَ إِلَى أُمِّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَنْ اكْتُبِي إِلَيَّ بِهِ، فَكَتَبَتْ إِلَيْهِ بِهِ كِتَابًا.
