Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 25159
Abdullah bin Abi Qais (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I asked Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her): How many Rak'ahs did the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) pray in Witr? She said: Four and three, six and three, ten and three, but he would not pray Witr with more than thirteen Rak'ahs or less than seven, and he would not leave the two Rak'ahs before Fajr.

عبداللہ بن ابی قیس رحمہ اللہ کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے پوچھا کہ نبی ﷺ کتنی رکعتوں پر وتر بناتے تھے؟ انہوں نے فرمایا چار اور تین پر، چھ اور تین پر، دس اور تین پر، لیکن تیرہ رکعتوں سے زیادہ اور سات سے کم پر وتر نہیں بناتے تھے اور فجر سے پہلے کی دو رکعتیں نہیں چھوڑتے تھے۔
Abdullah bin Abi Qais rahmatullah alaih kehte hain keh maine Hazrat Ayesha ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ا) se poocha keh Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) kitni rakaton par witr banate thay? Unhon ne farmaya chaar aur teen par, chhe aur teen par, das aur teen par, lekin terah rakaton se ziada aur saat se kam par witr nahin banate thay aur fajr se pehle ki do rakaten nahin chhorte thay.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَيْسٍ ، قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ عَائِشَةَ بِكَمْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُوتِرُ؟ قَالَتْ: " بِأَرْبَعٍ وَثَلَاثٍ، وَسِتٍّ وَثَلَاثٍ، وَثَمَانٍ وَثَلَاثٍ، وَعَشْرَةٍ وَثَلَاثٍ، وَلَمْ يَكُنْ يُوتِرُ بِأَكْثَرَ مِنْ ثَلَاثَ عَشْرَةَ وَلَا أَنْقَصَ مِنْ سَبْعٍ، وَكَانَ لَا يَدَعُ رَكْعَتَيْنِ" .
