The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 2557
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) that once, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) combined the Zuhr and Asr prayers, and the Maghrib and Isha prayers in Madinah. At that time, there was no fear nor rain. Someone asked Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) what the Prophet's (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) objective was in doing so. He replied that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) intended to spare his Ummah from hardship.

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ نبی ﷺ نے مدینہ منورہ میں ظہر اور عصر کو اور مغرب اور عشا کو جمع فرمایا، اس وقت نہ کوئی خوف تھا اور نہ ہی بارش، کسی نے سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے پوچھا کہ اس سے نبی ﷺ کا مقصد کیا تھا؟ انہوں نے جواب دیا کہ آپ ﷺ کا مقصد یہ تھا کہ آپ کی امت تنگی میں نہ رہے۔
Syedna Ibn Abbas RA se marvi hai keh aik martaba Nabi SAW ne Madina Munawara mein Zuhr aur Asr ko aur Maghrib aur Isha ko jama farmaya, us waqt na koi khauf tha aur na hi barish, kisi ne Syedna Ibn Abbas RA se poocha keh is se Nabi SAW ka maqsad kya tha? Unhon ne jawab diya keh aap SAW ka maqsad yeh tha keh aap ki ummat tangi mein na rahe.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ:" جَمَعَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَيْنَ الظُّهْرِ وَالْعَصْرِ بِالْمَدِينَةِ، فِي غَيْرِ سَفَرٍ وَلَا خَوْفٍ" قَالَ: قُلْتُ: يَا أَبَا الْعَبَّاسِ، وَلِمَ فَعَلَ ذَلِكَ؟ قَالَ: أَرَادَ أَنْ لَا يُحْرِجَ أَحَدًا مِنْ أُمَّتِهِ.
