Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 25616
Hukm relates that I asked Muqsim: "Can I offer Witr prayer with three rak'ahs so that my prayer is not missed?" He said: "Witr is only offered with five or seven rak'ahs." I mentioned this to Yahya bin Ja'zar and Mujahid, may Allah be pleased with them, and they said: "Ask Muqsim to provide his source for this." So, when I asked him, he said: "Two reliable narrators, Aisha and Umm Maimunah, may Allah be pleased with them, conveyed this instruction of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, to me."

حکم کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے مقسم سے پوچھا میں تین رکعتوں پر وتر بنا کر نماز کے لئے جاسکتا ہوں تاکہ نماز فوت نہ ہوجائے؟ انہوں نے فرمایا کہ وتر تو صرف پانچ یا سات رکعتوں پر بنائے جاتے ہیں، میں نے یہ بات یحییٰ بن جزار اور مجاہد رضی اللہ عنہ سے بیان کی تو انہوں نے فرمایا کہ مقسم سے اس کا حوالہ پوچھو چنانچہ میرے پوچھنے پر انہوں نے بتایا کہ دو ثقہ راویوں کے حوالے سے یہ بات حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا اور میمونہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے نبی ﷺ کا یہ ارشاد مجھ تک پہنچایا ہے۔
Hukum kehte hain ke maine muqsim se poocha main teen rakaton par witr bana kar namaz ke liye ja sakta hoon taake namaz foot na ho jaaye? Unhon ne farmaya ke witr to sirf panch ya saat rakaton par banaye jate hain, maine ye baat yahya bin jazzar aur mujahid (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se bayaan ki to unhon ne farmaya ke muqsim se iska hawala poocho chunanche mere poochne par unhon ne bataya ke do siqah rawion ke hawale se ye baat hazrat ayesha ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ا) aur maimoona ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ا) ne nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ka ye irshad mujh tak pahunchaya hai.
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي الْحَكَمُ ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ لِمِقْسَمٍ : أُوتِرُ بِثَلَاثٍ، ثُمَّ أَخْرُجُ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ، مَخَافَةَ أَنْ تَفُوتَنِي، قَالَ: " لَا وَتْرَ إِلَّا بِخَمْسٍ أَوْ سَبْعٍ" . قَالَ: فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ، لِيَحْيَى بْنِ الْجَزَّارِ، وْمُجَاهِدٍ، فَقَالَا لِي: سَلْهُ عَمَّنْ؟ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ: فَقَالَ: عَنِ الثِّقَةِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، ومَيْمُونَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.
