Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 25677
It is narrated on the authority of Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would wake up at night to pray, he would begin his prayer with two light rak'ahs.

حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے مروی ہے کہ نبی ﷺ جب رات کو نماز پڑھنے کے لئے بیدار ہوتے تو نماز کا آغاز دو حفیف رکعتوں سے فرماتے تھے۔
Hazrat Ayesha ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ا) se marvi hai ki Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) jab raat ko namaz parhne ke liye bedar hote to namaz ka aghaz do hafeef rak'aton se farmate the.
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ أَبِي حَرَّةَ ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ" كَانَ إِذَا قَامَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ صَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ يَتَجَوَّزُ فِيهِمَا" .
