The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 2573
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to use the Miswak (tooth-stick) so frequently that we began to fear that a verse of the Quran might be revealed about it (and the Ummah would not be able to fulfill this command).

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ اتنی کثرت کے ساتھ مسواک فرماتے تھے کہ ہمیں یہ اندیشہ ہونے لگا کہ کہیں اس بارے میں قرآن کی کوئی آیت نازل نہ ہو جائے (اور امت اس حکم کو پورا نہ کر سکے)۔
Sayyidna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) itni kasrat ke sath miswak farmate thy ki humain ye andesha hone laga ki kahin is bare mein Quran ki koi ayat nazil na ho jaye (aur umat is hukm ko pura na kar sake).
حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ التَّمِيمِيِّ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، فَذَكَرَ شَيْئًا، قَالَ: وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ" يُكْثِرُ السِّوَاكَ"، قَالَ: حَتَّى ظَنَنَّا أَوْ رَأَيْنَا أَنَّهُ سَيُنْزَلُ عَلَيْهِ.
