Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 25992
Abdullah bin Shaqiq (may Allah have mercy on him) said that I asked Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) about the optional prayers of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). She said that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would stand for a long time in night prayer and sit for a long time. He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would recite, bow and prostrate while standing, and he would recite, bow and prostrate while sitting.

عبداللہ بن شقیق رحمہ اللہ کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے نبی ﷺ کی نفل نمازوں کے متعلق دریافت کیا تو انہوں نے فرمایا کہ رات کی نماز میں نبی ﷺ طویل قیام فرماتے اور کافی دیر تک بیٹھتے، نبی ﷺ کھڑے ہو کر بھی تلاوت اور رکوع و سجود فرماتے تھے اور بیٹھ کر بھی تلاوت اور رکوع و سجود فرماتے تھے۔

حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ , قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا حُمَيْدٌ , عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ شَقِيقٍ , قَالَ: قُلْتُ لِعَائِشَةَ أَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي قَاعِدًا؟ قَالَتْ:" كَانَ يُصَلِّي مِنَ اللَّيْلِ طَوِيلًا قَاعِدًا , وَيُصَلِّي مِنَ اللَّيْلِ طَوِيلًا قَائِمًا , فَإِذَا قَرَأَ قَائِمًا رَكَعَ قَائِمًا , وَإِذَا قَرَأَ قَاعِدًا رَكَعَ قَاعِدًا" .
