The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 2613
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that two men brought a dispute to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked the plaintiff for witnesses. He did not have any witnesses, so the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked the defendant to take an oath. He swore by Allah, besides Whom there is no deity. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "You have sworn an oath, and by the blessing of the sincerity in your saying, 'There is no deity but Allah,' all your sins have been forgiven."

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ دو آدمی نبی ﷺ کے پاس اپنا ایک جھگڑا لے کر آئے، نبی ﷺ نے مدعی سے گواہوں کا تقاضا کیا، اس کے پاس گواہ نہیں تھے، اس لئے نبی ﷺ نے مدعی علیہ سے قسم کا مطالبہ کیا، اس نے یوں قسم کھائی کہ اس اللہ کی قسم! جس کے علاوہ کوئی معبود نہیں، نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا کہ ”تم نے قسم تو کھا لی، لیکن تمہارے «لَا إِلٰهَ ِإلَّا اللّٰهُ» کہنے میں اخلاص کی برکت سے تمہارے سارے گناہ معاف ہو گئے۔“
Sayyidna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki do aadmi Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke paas apna ek jhagda lekar aaye, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne muddai se gawahon ka taqaaza kiya, uske paas gawah nahi the, is liye Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne mudda'alaiyh se qasam ka mutalba kiya, usne yun qasam khayi ki is Allah ki qasam! Jis ke alawa koi mabood nahi, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya ki “Tumne qasam to kha li, lekin tumhare “La ilaha illallah” kahne mein ikhlas ki barkat se tumhare sare gunah maaf ho gaye.”
حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ ، عَنْ أَبِي يَحْيَى ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ : أَنَّ رَجُلَيْنِ اخْتَصَمَا إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَسَأَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، الْمُدَّعِيَ الْبَيِّنَةَ؟ فَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ بَيِّنَةٌ، فَاسْتَحْلَفَ الْمَطْلُوبَ، فَحَلَفَ بِاللَّهِ الَّذِي لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:" إِنَّكَ قَدْ حَلَفْتَ، وَلَكِنْ قَدْ غَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَكَ بِإِخْلَاصِكَ قَوْلَكَ: لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ".
