Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 26511
Umm Salama (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated that I asked in the court of the Messenger of Allah, "O Messenger of Allah, how low should women lower their garments?" The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "You can lower it by the length of a hand span." I said, "Then their legs will be exposed." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Then lower it by an arm's length, not more than that."

حضرت ام سلمہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ میں نے بارگاہ رسالت میں عرض کیا یا رسول اللہ عورتیں اپنا دامن کتنا لٹکائیں؟ نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا تم لوگ ایک بالشت کے برابر اسے لٹکا سکتی ہو میں نے عرض کیا کہ اس طرح تو ان کی پنڈلیاں کھل جائیں گی؟ نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا پھر ایک گز لٹکا لو اس سے زیادہ نہیں۔
Hazrat Umm Salma raziallahu anha se marvi hai ki maine bargah risalat mein arz kiya Ya Rasul Allah aurten apna daman kitna latkayen? Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya tum log ek balisht ke barabar use latka sakti ho maine arz kiya ki is tarah to un ki pindeliyan khul jayengi? Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya phir ek gaz latka lo is se ziada nahin.
حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ ، قَالَتْ: قُلْتُ: فَكَيْفَ بِالنِّسَاءِ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ؟ قَالَ: " تُرْخِينَ شِبْرًا" , قُلْتُ: إِذَنْ يَنْكَشِفَ عَنْهُنَّ؟ قَالَ:" فَذِرَاعٌ، لَا يَزِدْنَ عَلَيْهِ" .
