Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 26565
It is narrated on the authority of Umm Salama (may Allah be pleased with her) that I swear by the Being besides Whom there is no one worthy of worship, that Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) was closest to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in his last moments than anyone else. We used to visit the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) every day, and he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would often ask, "Has Ali arrived?" Most likely, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had sent him on some errand. After a while, Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) would arrive. I understood that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) wanted to talk to him in private. So, we would leave the house and sit by the door, and I would be the closest to the door. Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) leaned towards the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) made him sit on his left side and began to speak to him in whispers. That very day, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) passed away. Therefore, Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) was closest to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in his last moments.

حضرت ام سلمہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ جس ذات کی قسم کھائی جاسکتی ہے میں اس کی قسم کھا کر کہتی ہوں کہ دوسرے لوگوں کی نسبت حضرت علی کا نبی ﷺ کے آخری وقت میں زیادہ قرب رہا ہے، ہم لوگ روزانہ نبی ﷺ کی عیادت کے لئے حاضر ہوتے تو نبی ﷺ بارباریہی پوچھتے کہ علی آگئے؟ غالبا نبی ﷺ نے انہیں کسی کام سے بھیج دیا تھا تھوڑی دیر بعد حضرت علی آگئے، میں سمجھ گئی کہ نبی ﷺ ان سے خلوت میں کچھ بات کرنا چاہتے ہیں چنانچہ ہم لوگ گھر سے باہر آکر دروازے میں بیٹھ گئے اور ان میں سے دروازے کے سب سے زیادہ قریب میں ہی تھی، حضرت علی نبی ﷺ کی طرف جھک گئے نبی ﷺ نے انہیں اپنی بائیں جانب بٹھالیا اور ان سے سرگوشی میں باتیں کرنے لگے اور اسی دن نبی ﷺ کا وصال ہوگیا، اس اعتبار سے آخری لمحات میں حضرت علی کو نبی ﷺ کا سب سے زیادہ قرب حاصل رہا۔
Hazrat Umm Salma ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ا) se marvi hai ki jis zaat ki qasam khai ja sakti hai mein uski qasam kha kar kehti hun ki dusre logon ki nisbat Hazrat Ali ka Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke aakhri waqt mein zyada qurb raha hai, hum log rozana Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki ayadat ke liye hazir hote to Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) baar baar yahi puchte ki Ali agaye? ghaliban Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne unhein kisi kaam se bhej diya tha thori der baad Hazrat Ali agaye, mein samajh gayi ki Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) unse khalwat mein kuch baat karna chahte hain chunancha hum log ghar se bahar aakar darwaze mein baith gaye aur un mein se darwaze ke sabse zyada qareeb mein hi thi, Hazrat Ali Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki taraf jhuk gaye Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne unhein apni baayein jaanib bitha liya aur unse sargoshi mein baaten karne lage aur isi din Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ka wisal hogaya, is aitbaar se aakhri lamhaat mein Hazrat Ali ko Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ka sabse zyada qurb hasil raha.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ , وَسَمِعْتُهُ أَنَا مِنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ , قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ ، عَنْ مُغِيرَةَ ، عَنْ أُمِّ مُوسَى ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ ، قَالَتْ: وَالَّذِي أَحْلِفُ بِهِ , إِنْ كَانَ عَلِيٌّ لَأَقْرَبَ النَّاسِ عَهْدًا بِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , قَالَتْ: عُدْنَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ غَدَاةً بَعْدَ غَدَاةٍ يَقُولُ:" جَاءَ عَلِيٌّ؟" مِرَارًا، قَالَتْ: وَأَظُنُّهُ كَانَ بَعَثَهُ فِي حَاجَةٍ , قَالَتْ: فَجَاءَ بَعْدُ , فَظَنَنْتُ أَنَّ لَهُ إِلَيْهِ حَاجَةً، فَخَرَجْنَا مِنَ الْبَيْتِ، فَقَعَدْنَا عِنْدَ الْبَابِ، فَكُنْتُ مِنْ أَدْنَاهُمْ إِلَى الْبَابِ، فَأَكَبَّ عَلَيْهِ عَلِيٌّ، فَجَعَلَ يُسَارُّهُ وَيُنَاجِيهِ، ثُمَّ قُبِضَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ يَوْمِهِ ذَلِكَ، فَكَانَ أَقْرَبَ النَّاسِ بِهِ عَهْدًا .
