The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 2737
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) did not fast any complete month other than Ramadan. However, he would sometimes fast consecutively, to the point that people would say that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would not break his fast. And sometimes he would break his fast consecutively, to the point that people would say that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would not fast.

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ نبی ﷺ نے ماہ رمضان کے علاوہ کسی مہینے کے مکمل روزے نہیں رکھے، البتہ وہ بعض اوقات اس تسلسل کے ساتھ روزے رکھتے تھے کہ لوگ کہتے تھے کہ اب نبی ﷺ کوئی روزہ نہیں چھوڑیں گے، اور بعض اوقات اس تسلسل سے افطار فرماتے تھے کہ کہنے والے کہتے تھے کہ اب نبی ﷺ کوئی روزہ نہیں رکھیں گے۔
Sayyidna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne mah-e-Ramzan ke ilawa kisi mahine ke mukammal rozy nahi rakhy, albatta woh baz auqat is tasalsul ke sath rozy rakhte thy ke log kahte thy ke ab Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) koi roza nahi chhoren gy, aur baz auqat is tasalsul se iftar farmate thy ke kehne wale kahte thy ke ab Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) koi roza nahi rakhen gy.
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَمَّادٍ ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي بِشْرٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ:" وَاللَّهِ مَا صَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ شَهْرًا كَامِلًا قَطُّ، غَيْرَ رَمَضَانَ، وَكَانَ إِذَا صَامَ، صَامَ حَتَّى يَقُولَ الْقَائِلُ وَاللَّهِ لَا يُفْطِرُ، وَيُفْطِرُ إِذَا أَفْطَرَ، حتى يَقُولُ الْقَائِلُ وَاللَّهِ لَا يَصُومُ".
