The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 2767
Karib (may Allah have mercy on him) said that once Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) saw Abdullah bin Harith praying with a braid of his hair tied at the back of his head. He stood behind him and started to untie his hair. Abdullah let him untie it. After finishing the prayer, he turned to Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) and said, "What business did you have with my hair?" He replied, "I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saying, 'The example of a person who prays like this (with tied hair) is like the one who prays with his hands tied behind his back.'"

کریب رحمہ اللہ کہتے ہیں کہ ایک مرتبہ سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما نے عبداللہ بن حارث کو نماز پڑھتے ہوئے دیکھا جنہوں نے پیچھے سے اپنے سر کے بالوں کا جوڑا بنا رکھا تھا، وہ ان کے پیچھے جا کر کھڑے ہوئے اور ان بالوں کو کھولنے لگے، عبداللہ نے انہیں وہ بال کھولنے دیئے، نماز سے فارغ ہو کر وہ سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما کی طرف متوجہ ہو کر کہنے لگے کہ آپ کو میرے سر سے کیا غرض ہے؟ انہوں نے فرمایا کہ میں نے نبی ﷺ کو یہ فرماتے ہوئے سنا ہے کہ ”اس طرح نماز پڑھنے والے کی مثال اس شخص کی سی ہے جو اس حال میں نماز پڑھے کہ اس کے ہاتھ پیچھے بندھے ہوئے ہوں۔“
Kareeb rehmatullah alaih kehte hain ki aik martaba Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a ne Abdullah bin Haris ko namaz parhte hue dekha jinhone peeche se apne sar ke balon ka jora bana rakha tha, woh unke peeche ja kar khare hue aur un balon ko kholne lage, Abdullah ne unhen woh bal kholne diye, namaz se farig ho kar woh Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a ki taraf mutawajjeh ho kar kehne lage ki aap ko mere sar se kya garaz hai? Unhone farmaya ki maine Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko ye farmate hue suna hai ki "Is tarah namaz parhne wale ki misal is shakhs ki si hai jo is hal mein namaz parhe ki uske hath peeche bandhe hue hon."
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ غَيْلَانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا رِشْدِينُ ، أخبرني عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنْ بُكَيْرِ بْنِ الْأَشَجِّ ، عَنْ كُرَيْبٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنَّهُ رَأَى عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ الْحَارِثِ يُصَلِّي وَرَأْسُهُ مَعْقُوصٌ مِنْ وَرَائِهِ، فَقَامَ وَرَاءَهُ وَجَعَلَ يَحُلُّهُ، وَأَقَرَّ لَهُ الْآخَرُ، ثُمَّ أَقْبَلَ إِلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، فَقَالَ: مَا لَكَ وَرَأْسِي؟ قَالَ: إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، يَقُولُ:" إِنَّمَا مَثَلُ هَذَا، كَمَثَلِ الَّذِي يُصَلِّي وَهُوَ مَكْتُوفٌ".
