The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 2775
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyidna Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the command of changing the direction of prayer (Qibla) was revealed, people asked: “O Messenger of Allah! What will be the fate of those companions of ours who prayed facing Jerusalem and passed away in that state?” Thereupon, this verse was revealed: “And Allah would never waste your faith.” (Al-Baqarah 143) “Allah will not let your prayers go to waste.”

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ جب تحویل قبلہ کا حکم نازل ہوا تو لوگوں نے عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! ہمارے وہ ساتھی جو بیت المقدس کی طرف رخ کر کے نماز پڑھتے رہے اور اسی حال میں فوت ہو گئے، ان کا کیا بنے گا؟ اس پر یہ آیت نازل ہوئی: «﴿وَمَا كَانَ اللّٰهُ لِيُضِيعَ إِيمَانَكُمْ﴾ [البقرة: 143] » ”اللہ تمہاری نمازوں کو ضائع کرنے والا نہیں ہے۔“
Sayyidna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki jab tahweel qibla ka hukm nazil hua to logon ne arz kiya Ya Rasul Allah hamare wo sathi jo Baitul Maqdis ki taraf rukh kar ke namaz parhte rahe aur isi hal mein foot ho gaye un ka kya bane ga Is par ye aayat nazil hui "Wama kana Allahu li-yudyi'a imanakum" "Allah tumhari namaazon ko zaya karne wala nahin hai"
حَدَّثَنَا خَلَفٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ:" لَمَّا حُوِّلَتْ الْقِبْلَةُ، قِيلَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، أَرَأَيْتَ الَّذِينَ مَاتُوا وَهُمْ يُصَلُّونَ إِلَى بَيْتِ الْمَقْدِسِ؟ فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ: وَمَا كَانَ اللَّهُ لِيُضِيعَ إِيمَانَكُمْ سورة البقرة آية 143".
