The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 2801
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when Allah Almighty revealed this command: «﴿وَأَنْذِرْ عَشِيرَتَكَ الْأَقْرَبِينَ﴾ [الشعراء: 214] » “And warn, [O Muhammad], your closest kindred.” One day, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) ascended Mount Safa and called out to the people to gather, according to the custom of the time, saying «يَا صَبَاحَاهُ». When the people of Quraysh had gathered, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “O Banu Abd al-Muttalib! O Banu Fihr! O Banu Lu'ay! Tell me, if I were to inform you that the enemy was going to attack you at some point in the morning or evening, would you believe me?” They all said: “Why not?” The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Then I warn you of a severe punishment to come.” Abu Lahab said: “Have you gathered us only for this? May you perish!.” Thereupon, Surah Lahab was revealed.

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ جب اللہ تعالیٰ نے یہ حکم نازل فرمایا: «﴿وَأَنْذِرْ عَشِيرَتَكَ الْأَقْرَبِينَ﴾ [الشعراء: 214] » ”اپنے قریبی رشتہ داروں کو ڈرائیے“ تو ایک دن نبی ﷺ نے صفا پہاڑی پر چڑھ کر اس وقت کے رواج کے مطابق لوگوں کو جمع کرنے کے لئے «يَا صَبَاحَاهُ» کہہ کر آواز لگائی، جب قریش کے لوگ جمع ہو گئے تو نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”اے بنو عبدالمطلب! اے بنو فہر! اے بنو لؤی! یہ بتاؤ، اگر میں تمہیں خبر دوں کہ دشمن تم پر صبح یا شام میں کسی وقت حملہ کرنے والا ہے تو کیا تم میری تصدیق کروگے؟“ سب نے کہا: کیوں نہیں؟ نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”پھر میں تمہیں ایک سخت عذاب آنے سے پہلے ڈراتا ہوں۔“ ابولہب کہنے لگا کہ کیا تم نے ہمیں اسی لئے جمع کیا تھا، تم ہلاک ہو (العیاذ باللہ) اس پر سورہ لہب نازل ہوئی۔
Sayyidna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai keh jab Allah Taala ne yeh hukum nazil farmaya: «﴿Wa Anzir Ash-irataka Al-Aqrabeen﴾ [Ash-Shu'ara: 214] » ”Apne qareebi rishtedaron ko daraiye“ to ek din Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne Safa pahadi per chadh kar us waqt ke rivaaj ke mutabiq logon ko jama karne ke liye «Ya Sabahahah» keh kar awaz lagai, jab Quraish ke log jama ho gaye to Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: ”Ae banu Abdilmuttalib! Ae banu Fahr! Ae banu Luwai! Yeh batao, agar main tumhen khabar dun keh dushman tum per subah ya sham mein kisi waqt hamla karne wala hai to kya tum meri tasdeeq karoge?“ Sab ne kaha: kyun nahin? Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: ”Phir main tumhen ek sakht azab aane se pehle darata hun.“ Abulahab kehne laga keh kya tumne hamen isi liye jama kiya tha, tum halak ho (Al-iyaz Billah) is per Surah Lahab nazil hui.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ: لَمَّا أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَأَنْذِرْ عَشِيرَتَكَ الأَقْرَبِينَ سورة الشعراء آية 214، قَالَ: أَتَى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الصَّفَا، فَصَعِدَ عَلَيْهِ، ثُمَّ نَادَى" يَا صَبَاحَاهْ" فَاجْتَمَعَ النَّاسُ إِلَيْهِ، بَيْنَ رَجُلٍ يَجِيءُ إِلَيْهِ، وَبَيْنَ رَجُلٍ يَبْعَثُ رَسُولَهُ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:" يَا بَنِي عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ، يَا بَنِي فِهْرٍ، يَا بَنِي يا بَني، أَرَأَيْتُمْ لَوْ أَخْبَرْتُكُمْ أَنَّ خَيْلًا بِسَفْحِ هَذَا الْجَبَلِ، تُرِيدُ أَنْ تُغِيرَ عَلَيْكُمْ، صَدَّقْتُمُونِي؟" قَالُوا: نَعَمْ، قَالَ:" فَإِنِّي نَذِيرٌ لَكُمْ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ عَذَابٍ شَدِيدٍ"، فَقَالَ أَبُو لَهَبٍ: تَبًّا لَكَ سَائِرَ الْيَوْمِ، أَمَا دَعَوْتَنَا إِلَّا لِهَذَا؟ فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ تَبَّتْ يَدَا أَبِي لَهَبٍ وَتَبَّ.
