The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 2965
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) requested Angel Gabriel (peace be upon him) to show his true form. He replied, “Pray to your Lord.” The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) prayed, and immediately a cloud arose from the east, which gradually began to rise and spread. When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saw this, he fainted and fell down. Angel Gabriel (peace be upon him) came near the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), lifted him up, and wiped the saliva that was flowing from both sides of his mouth.

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ نبی ﷺ نے حضرت جبرئیل علیہ السلام سے اپنی اصلی صورت دکھانے کی فرمائش کی، انہوں نے کہا کہ اپنے رب سے دعا کیجئے، نبی ﷺ نے دعا کی تو اسی لمحے مشرق کی طرف سے ایک گھٹا اٹھی جو آہستہ آہستہ بلند ہونے اور پھیلنے لگی، نبی ﷺ نے جب یہ دیکھا تو آپ ﷺ بےہوش ہو کر گر پڑے، حضرت جبرئیل علیہ السلام نے نبی ﷺ کے پاس آ کر انہیں اٹھایا اور آپ ﷺ کے منہ سے نکلنے والے تھوک کو صاف کیا جو دونوں جبڑوں کی طرف سے نکل رہا تھا۔
Sayyidna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki aik martaba Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne Hazrat Jibraeel Alaihissalam se apni asli soorat dikhane ki farmaish ki, unhon ne kaha ki apne Rab se dua kijiye, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne dua ki to usi lamhe mashriq ki taraf se aik ghata uthi jo ahistah ahistah buland hone aur phailne lagi, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne jab ye dekha to aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) behos ho kar gir pade, Hazrat Jibraeel Alaihissalam ne Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke pass aa kar unhen uthaya aur aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke muh se nikalne wala thook ko saaf kiya jo donon jabdon ki taraf se nikal raha tha.
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ ، عَنْ إِدْرِيسَ بْنِ منبه عَنْ أَبِيهِ وَهْبِ بْنِ مُنَبِّهٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ:" سَأَلَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جِبْرِيلَ أَنْ يَرَاهُ فِي صُورَتِهِ، فَقَالَ: ادْعُ رَبَّكَ. قَالَ: فَدَعَا رَبَّهُ، قَالَ: فَطَلَعَ عَلَيْهِ سَوَادٌ مِنْ قِبَلِ الْمَشْرِقِ، قَالَ: فَجَعَلَ يَرْتَفِعُ وَيَنْتَشِرُ، قَالَ: فَلَمَّا رَآهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، صَعِقَ، فَأَتَاهُ فَنَعَشَهُ، وَمَسَحَ الْبُزَاقَ عَنْ شِدْقِهِ".
