The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 2972
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that during the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), a man came and accepted Islam. After some time, his wife also accepted Islam and came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). The man said, "O Messenger of Allah! I had accepted Islam (but had kept it hidden for a reason) and my wife knew about it." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) declared her to be his wife and returned her to her first husband.

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ دور نبوت میں ایک شخص مسلمان ہو کر آیا، کچھ عرصے بعد اس کی بیوی بھی مسلمان ہو کر آ گئی، اس شخص نے عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ ﷺ ! میں نے اسلام قبول کر لیا تھا (کسی مصلحت کی وجہ سے اسے مخفی رکھا تھا) اور میری بیوی کو اس کا علم تھا، نبی ﷺ نے اسے اس کی بیوی قرار دے کر دوسرے شوہر سے پہلے شوہر کی طرف واپس لوٹا دیا۔
Sayyidna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ke daur nabuwat mein ek shakhs musalman ho kar aaya, kuch arsey baad uski biwi bhi musalman ho kar aa gai, iss shakhs ne arz kiya: Ya Rasulullah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ! mein ne Islam qubool kar liya tha (kisi maslahat ki wajah se ise makhfi rakha tha) aur meri biwi ko iska ilm tha, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne ise uski biwi qarar de kar dusre shohar se pehle shohar ki taraf wapas lauta diya.
حَدَّثَنَا الزُّبَيْرِيُّ وَأَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ ، قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ: أَسْلَمَتْ امْرَأَةٌ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَتَزَوَّجَتْ، فَجَاءَ زَوْجُهَا الْأَوَّلُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، إِنِّي قَدْ أَسْلَمْتُ وَعَلِمَتْ إِسْلَامِي." فَنَزَعَهَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ زَوْجِهَا الْآخِرِ، وَرَدَّهَا عَلَى زَوْجِهَا الْأَوَّلِ".
