The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 2977
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyidina Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that in the past, the Jinn used to eavesdrop on heavenly news. They would hear one thing and add ten things from themselves and convey it to the soothsayers. (The one thing they heard would prove to be true, and the ten things they added from themselves would prove to be false.) And before this, stars were not thrown at them. However, when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was sent, whoever among the Jinn reached their dwelling, a flaming fire would be thrown at them and they would burn. They complained about this matter to Iblis. He said: "The reason for this is nothing but that a new thing has come into being." So he spread out his legions. Some of them passed by the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) while he was praying in the valley of Nakhl. They came to Iblis and told him this news. He said: "This is the real reason, which has appeared on earth."

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ گزشتہ زمانے میں جنات آسمانی خبریں سن لیا کرتے تھے، وہ ایک بات سن کر اس میں دس اپنی طرف سے لگاتے اور کاہنوں کو پہنچا دیتے، (وہ ایک بات جو انہوں نے سنی ہوتی وہ ثابت ہو جاتی اور جو وہ اپنی طرف سے لگاتے تھے وہ غلط ثابت ہو جاتیں) اور اس سے پہلے ان پر ستارے بھی نہیں پھینکے جاتے تھے، لیکن جب نبی ﷺ کو مبعوث کیا گیا تو جنات میں جو بھی اپنے ٹھکانہ پر پہنچتا، اس پر شہاب ثاقب کی برسات شروع ہو جاتی اور وہ جل جاتا، انہوں نے ابلیس سے اس چیز کی شکایت کی، اس نے کہا: اس کی وجہ سوائے اس کے اور کچھ نہیں کہ کوئی نئی بات ہو گئی ہے، چنانچہ اس نے اپنے لشکروں کو پھیلا دیا، ان میں سے کچھ لوگ نبی ﷺ کے پاس سے بھی گزرے جو جبل نخلہ کے درمیان نماز پڑھا رہے تھے، انہوں نے ابلیس کے پاس آ کر اسے یہ خبر سنائی، اس نے کہا کہ یہ ہے اصل وجہ، جو زمین میں پیدا ہوئی ہے۔
Sayyidna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki guzishta zamane mein jinnat aasmani khabaren sun liya karte the, woh ek baat sun kar us mein das apni taraf se lagate aur kaheno ko pohancha dete, (woh ek baat jo unhon ne suni hoti woh sabit ho jati aur jo woh apni taraf se lagate the woh ghalat sabit ho jatin) aur is se pehle un par sitare bhi nahin phenke jate the, lekin jab Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko mabus kia gaya to jinnat mein jo bhi apne thikana par pahunchta, us par shahab saqib ki barsat shuru ho jati aur woh jal jata, unhon ne iblis se is cheez ki shikayat ki, us ne kaha: is ki wajah siwaye is ke aur kuch nahin ki koi nayi baat ho gayi hai, chunancha us ne apne lashkaro ko phailaye diya, un mein se kuch log Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke pass se bhi guzre jo Jabal Nakhla ke darmiyan namaz parh rahe the, unhon ne iblis ke pass aa kar use ye khabar sunayi, us ne kaha ki ye hai asal wajah, jo zameen mein paida hui hai.
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ إِسْرَائِيلَ ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ: كَانَتْ لِلشَّيَاطِينِ مَقَاعِدُ فِي السَّمَاءِ، فَكَانُوا يَسْتَمِعُونَ الْوَحْيَ، وَكَانَتْ النُّجُومُ لَا تَجْرِي، وَكَانَتْ الشَّيَاطِينُ لَا تُرْمَى،، قَالَ: فَإِذَا سَمِعُوا الْوَحْيَ، نَزَلُوا إِلَى الْأَرْضِ، فَزَادُوا فِي الْكَلِمَةِ تِسْعًا،" فَلَمَّا بُعِثَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، جَعَلَ الشَّيْطَانُ إِذَا قَعَدَ مَقْعَدَهُ، جَاءَهُ شِهَابٌ فَلَمْ يُخْطِهِ حَتَّى يُحْرِقَهُ، قَالَ: فَشَكَوْا ذَلِكَ إِلَى إِبْلِيسَ، فَقَالَ: مَا هَذَا إِلَّا مِنْ حَدَثٍ حَدَثَ. قَالَ: فَبَثَّ جُنُودَهُ، قَالَ: فَإِذَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَائِمٌ يُصَلِّي بَيْنَ جَبَلَيْ نَخْلَةَ، قَالَ: فَرَجَعُوا إِلَى إِبْلِيسَ، فَأَخْبَرُوهُ، قَالَ: فَقَالَ: هُوَ الَّذِي حَدَثَ.
