The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 3021
Abu Bakhtari narrated that once we were in “Dhat-e-Arq” when the moon of Ramadan was sighted. We sent a man to Ibn Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them both) to ask him about this issue. Ibn Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them both) mentioned this statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in response: “Allah has made allowance in the sighting of the moon, so if the moon is not sighted, then complete the count of thirty days.”

ابوالبختری کہتے ہیں کہ ہم ایک مرتبہ ”ذات عرق“ میں تھے کہ رمضان کا چاند نظر آ گیا، ہم نے ایک آدمی کو سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما کے پاس یہ مسئلہ پوچھنے کے لئے بھیجا، سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما نے اس کے جواب میں نبی ﷺ کا یہ ارشاد ذکر کیا کہ ”اللہ نے چاند کی رؤیت میں وسعت دی ہے، اس لئے اگر چاند نظر نہ آئے تو تیس دن کی گنتی پوری کرو۔“
Abualbakhtari kahte hain ki hum ek martaba "Zat Arq" mein the ki Ramzan ka chand nazar aa gaya, hum ne ek aadmi ko Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a ke paas ye masla puchne ke liye bheja, Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a ne iske jawab mein Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ka ye irshad zikar kiya ki "Allah ne chand ki ruet mein wusat di hai, is liye agar chand nazar na aaye to tees din ki ginti puri karo."
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ وَهَاشِمٌ ، قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْبَخْتَرِيِّ ، قَالَ: أَهْلَلْنَا هِلَالَ رَمَضَانَ، وَنَحْنُ بِذَاتِ عِرْقٍ، قَالَ: فَأَرْسَلْنَا رَجُلًا إِلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ يَسْأَلُهُ، قَالَ هَاشِمٌ: فَسَأَلَهُ، فَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:" إِنَّ اللَّهَ قَدْ مَدَّ رُؤْيَتَهُ قَالَ هَاشِمٌ: لِرُؤْيَتِهِ فَإِنْ أُغْمِيَ عَلَيْكُمْ، فَأَكْمِلُوا الْعِدَّةَ".
