The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 3022
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) went to the toilet. I placed the water for ablution behind him. When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came out, he asked, "Who put this water here?" I said, "Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him)." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "O Allah! Make him a jurist (faqih)."

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ نبی ﷺ بیت الخلاء آئے، میں نے پیچھے سے وضو کا پانی رکھ دیا، جب نبی ﷺ باہر نکلے تو پوچھا کہ ”یہ پانی کس نے رکھا ہے؟“ بتایا کہ ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما نے، نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”اے اللہ! اسے فقیہہ بنا۔“
Sayyidna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki ek martaba Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) baitul khalaja aye, main ne peeche se wuzu ka pani rakh diya, jab Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) bahar nikle to poocha ki “yeh pani kis ne rakha hai?”, bataya ki Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a ne, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: “Aye Allah! Ise faqeeh bana.”
حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَرْقَاءُ ، قال: سَمِعْتُ عُبَيْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ أَبِي يَزَيْدٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ: أَتَى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْخَلَاءَ، فَوَضَعْتُ لَهُ وَضُوءًا، فَلَمَّا خَرَجَ، قَالَ:" مَنْ وَضَعَ ذَا؟" قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ. قَالَ:" اللَّهُمَّ فَقِّههُ".
