The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 3051
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyidna Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) passed by a dead goat. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Why did you not benefit from its skin?” The people said: “O Messenger of Allah! It is dead.” He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Only its eating is prohibited (the rest of it, its skin can be purified by tanning).”

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ کا ایک مردہ بکری پر گزر ہوا، نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”تم نے اس کی کھال سے کیوں نہ فائدہ اٹھا لیا؟“ لوگوں نے کہا: یا رسول اللہ ﷺ ! یہ مردہ ہے، فرمایا: ”اس کا صرف کھانا حرام ہے (باقی اس کی کھال دباغت سے پاک ہو سکتی ہے)۔“
Sayyidna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ka ek murda bakri par guzar hua, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: "Tum ne is ki khal se kyon na faida utha liya?" Logon ne kaha: Ya Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)! Yah murda hai, farmaya: "Is ka sirf khana haram hai (baqi is ki khal dibaghat se pak ho sakti hai)."
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُصْعَبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ: مَرَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِشَاةٍ مَيْتَةٍ، فَقَالَ:" أَلَا اسْتَمْتَعْتُمْ بِجِلْدِهَا؟" قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، إِنَّهَا مَيْتَةٌ. قَالَ:" إِنَّمَا حَرُمَ أَكْلُهَا".
