The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 3136
Mujaahid (may Allah have mercy on him) said: “Once, people were performing Tawaf of the Ka'bah, and Sayyiduna Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) was present in the Haram. He had a stick with him, and he said: ‘The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) recited this verse: “O you who believe! Fear Allah as He should be feared, and die not except in a state of Islam.” (Al-Imran: 102). Then he said: “If even a drop of Zaqqum were to be dropped on the earth, it would make the life of the people of the earth bitter. Now think about the one whose food will be Zaqqum, what will become of him?” Benefit: “Zaqqum” is the name of a tree in Hell.

مجاہد رحمہ اللہ کہتے ہیں کہ ایک مرتبہ لوگ بیت اللہ کا طواف کر رہے تھے اور سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما حرم میں تشریف فرما تھے، ان کے پاس ایک چھڑی بھی تھی، وہ کہنے لگے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے یہ آیت تلاوت کر کے: «﴿يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اتَّقُوا اللّٰهَ حَقَّ تُقَاتِهِ وَلَا تَمُوتُنَّ إِلَّا وَأَنْتُمْ مُسْلِمُونَ﴾ [آل عمران: 102] » ”اے اہل ایمان! اللہ سے اس طرح ڈرو جیسے اس سے ڈرنے کا حق ہے، اور تم نہ مرنا مگر مسلمان ہو کر۔“ فرمایا: ”اگر زقوم کا ایک قطرہ بھی زمین پر ٹپکا دیا جائے تو زمین والوں کی زندگی کو تلخ کر کے رکھ دے، اب سوچ لو کہ جس کا کھانا ہی زقوم ہو گا اس کا کیا بنے گا۔“ فائدہ: ”زقوم“ جہنم کے ایک درخت کا نام ہے۔
Mujaahid Rahmatullah Alaih kehte hain ki ek martaba log Baitullah ka tawaaf kar rahe the aur Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (رضي الله تعالى عنه) Haram mein tashreef farma the, unke paas ek chhadi bhi thi, woh kehne lage ki Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne yeh ayat tilawat kar ke: "Ya ayyuhal lazeena aamanoo ittaqullaha haqqa tuqatihi wala tamu tunna illa wa antum Muslimoon." Farmaya: "Agar zaqqum ka ek qatra bhi zameen par tapka diya jaye to zameen walon ki zindagi ko talkh kar ke rakh de, ab soch lo ki jis ka khana hi zaqqum ho ga us ka kya bane ga." Faida: "Zaqqum" jahannam ke ek darakht ka naam hai.
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنَّهُ كَانَ عِنْدَ الْحَجَرِ، وَعِنْدَهُ مِحْجَنٌ يَضْرِبُ بِهِ الْحَجَرَ، وَيُقَبِّلُهُ، فَقَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:" يَأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اتَّقُوا اللَّهَ حَقَّ تُقَاتِهِ وَلا تَمُوتُنَّ إِلا وَأَنْتُمْ مُسْلِمُونَ سورة آل عمران آية 102، لَوْ أَنَّ قَطْرَةً قُطِرَتْ مِنَ الزَّقُّومِ فِي الْأَرْضِ، لَأَمَرَّتْ عَلَى أَهْلِ الدُّنْيَا مَعِيشَتَهُمْ، فَكَيْفَ بِمَنْ هُوَ طَعَامُهُ، وَلَيْسَ لَهُ طَعَامٌ غَيْرُهُ؟!".
