Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 319
Narrated by Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that once Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) was delivering the sermon on Friday, during the sermon a man came and sat down. Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) asked him: Why did you stay behind in prayer? He replied: Amirul Momineen! I was coming back from the market, as soon as I heard the Adhan, I came after performing ablution. Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Well, did you not hear the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saying that whoever amongst you comes for Friday, he should take a bath.

سیدنا ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ جمعہ کے دن خطبہ ارشاد فرما رہے تھے، دوران خطبہ ایک صاحب آ کر بیٹھ گئے، سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے ان سے پوچھا: نماز سے کیوں رکے رہے، انہوں نے جواباً کہا کہ امیر المؤمنین! میں بازار سے واپس آیا تھا، میں نے تو جیسے ہی اذان سنی، وضو کرتے ہی آ گیا ہوں، سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے فرمایا: اچھا کیا تم نے نبی ﷺ کو یہ فرماتے ہوئے نہیں سنا ہے کہ جب تم میں سے کوئی شخص جمعہ کے لئے جائے تو اسے غسل کر لینا چاہیے۔
Sayyidna Abu Hurairah RA se marvi hai keh aik martaba Sayyidna Umar RA juma ke din khutba irshad farma rahe thay, dauran khutba aik sahib aa kar baith gaye, Sayyidna Umar RA ne un se poocha: Namaz se kyun ruke rahe, unhon ne jawaban kaha keh Amir-ul-Momineen! Main bazaar se wapas aaya tha, main ne to jaise hi azan suni, wuzu karte hi aa gaya hun, Sayyidna Umar RA ne farmaya: Acha kya tum ne Nabi SAW ko ye farmate huye nahi suna hai keh jab tum mein se koi shakhs juma ke liye jaye to usay ghusl kar lena chahiye.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَرْبٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ شَدَّادٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَلَمَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ: بَيْنَمَا عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ يَخْطُبُ، إِذْ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ فَجَلَسَ، فَقَالَ عُمَرُ: لِمَ تَحْتَبِسُونَ عَنِ الْجُمُعَةِ؟ فَقَالَ الرَّجُلُ: يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ، مَا هُوَ إِلَّا أَنْ سَمِعْتُ النِّدَاءَ فَتَوَضَّأْتُ، ثُمَّ أَقْبَلْتُ، فَقَالَ عُمَرُ : وَأَيْضًا! أَلَمْ تَسْمَعُوا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، يَقُولُ:" إِذَا رَاحَ أَحَدُكُمْ إِلَى الْجُمُعَةِ، فَلْيَغْتَسِلْ"؟.
